By what round do people believe you should realistically have all of your rookies off of the field?

Just before the byes? Right after?

Off? They're going to be there all year the way things are going.

Changes every year depending on the quality of rookies and what happens with injuries etc.

This year, most teams should be at between 4-5 rookies on field at the moment. With four sets of trades before the Byes, I think you'd likely want to go INTO the Byes with at most 1, maybe 2 rookies still on field.

Usually you would like to go into the Byes with no rookies on field, but the number of premium injuries this year have delayed moving rookies off field.

Plus, with so many rookies averaging ~70+ (Farrow, Serong, Duursma, Jagg, Murdock, Retscko, McAndrew, Cook) this year is a year where we are actually able to focus more on upgrading under performing mid pricers scoring 70-85 instead of rookies.

In years past you'd go into the Byes with no rookies but 3-5 mid pricers scoring 70's. This year we are likely to go in with a rookie or two but more top end premiums we've upgraded from midpricers.

Fair enough that's a pretty good explanation, thanks for that.

I've always wondered as well, what is considered the cut-off for when a player is considered a rookie before turning into a mid pricer? Same goes for mid pricer turning into a premo?

I would have had it around 500-600k for mid pricers and 900k for premos.

In the general paralance, a rookie is a rookie if they started the season as a rookie. I.e this year under $400k was the generally accepted cut off - usually set a touch higher than whatever the number 1 pick is valued at. A rookies purpose is to make cash and be upgraded, while hopefully being fieldable in the early rounds while you don't have a compelted side.

A "mid pricer" would be anyone more expensive than a rookie but not falling into the next categories of "Underpriced Premium" or "Premium". This year, mid pricers were largely between $400-800k. A midpricers purpose is to score well in the early rounds, make cahs ane eventually be upraded.

An "Underpriced Premium" is anyone who is discounted to other "Premiums" but who is anticipated or projected to become a Premium. Someone like Sam Flanders this year would be considered an "Underpriced Premium" becuase he was effectively mid-priced but expected to be held for the majority of the season rather than upgraded. What exact cash figure constitutes an Underpriced Premium changes line by line, but roughly $800-900k.

"Premiums" would be anyone anticipated to be Top 6 or 8 in their line or there and abouts who could theoretically be held for the entire year. This year, that was roughly $900-$1.1m.

"Uber Premiums" are standout premium players at the top of their line, this year roughly $1.1m +

Fair enough, I think you explained it perfectly. Been playing for years but never got around all the terminology in depth. This was really helpful.

For any Blamires loopers, he's a late in this week, Warlord withdrawn due to illness.

Means i cant actually loop. Scerri my only red dot means not VCing Daicos last night an even dumber call

I have Serong Farrow Duursma Murdock McAndrew

And I was gonna get rid of 1 this week before upgrading McKercher

I do plan on getting rid of all rookies as quick as I can but also like to chase Heeney Kossie types from Bruhn & Rachele so that’s at 5-7 weeks with no injuries

What rookies are we playing on field this week?
I am playing Caroll ahead of Farrow due to the match up, not sure how I feel about it

I'm playing Serong, Lindsay, Jagga, Murdock, Retschko and McAndrew.
I'm a bit behind. I usually don't get all my rookies off field until end of byes.

Can't believe I missed Reid, CMac, and Rachele all of whom I liked in preseason and somehow they didn't end up in my starting squad and still continue not to exist in the current one.
With how few good forward rookies there were, we should've taken more risks in picking these forward mid pricers. I unfortunately only started 1 and picked up Rachele late and missed CMac altogether.

At this stage I’m fielding Serong, Grjl and Carroll over Farrow and Blamires, Duursma and Jagga over Murdock and Retch, and McAndrew

Just the 1 in each line for me

DEF: Farrow (Serong, Grlj)
MID: Murdock (Anderson, Cumming, Retschko)
RUC: McAndrew (ZZ)
FWD: Cook (Lombard, Dovaston)

I'm playing Serong, Lindsay, Jagga, Murdock, Retschko and McAndrew.

I’ve for Serong, Carroll, Marshall (Todd), Murdoch, Duursma, Jagga

I also feel very behind but scores 2300 last week so not too concerned with the amount of rookies

Got 4 rooks.
Farrow, lindsay (serong, carroll)
Mudrock (cumming, retschko, jagga)
ZZ (c) for loop, (Mcandrew)

Stuck on either to field Smith or Retshcko. Smith better player but has been moved to half forward last couple of games more but does Lord out mean more mid mins? Retch has that hb/wing role and plays WC and shown that he can score. This is probs a toss of a coin but would like to hear some thoughts

Smith took 8 marks and had 5 tackles last week when his season average is 2.9 for both. Hard to know if he’ll do that again.

His disposal should be there like normal.

Hard to go past Retch against WCE. I’m leaning him atm
