Agree, but that’s a question in itself. How we have had such a tough draw compared to some other teams is a question that should be asked. Other than Essendon have we played any other team that isn’t a contender yet? Compare that draw to any other team. They say our draw opens up from here but not really. We don’t play West Coast or Richmond until much later in the season, same with North. Look at who Gold Coast play and where they play them. Look at Geelong’s draw. It’s ridiculous how unfair the competition is because of how the AFL schedule the draw. It clearly favours certain teams and makes it extraordinarily hard on others.

Definitely got the rough end of the stick with our draw this year. At least we’re not playing Suns up at Darwin again.

How has Baker not have more credits in the bank on his form this year.
His run and strength would have been very handy tonight.
And the Emmett selection given English was going to be underdone was ridiculous.
As most have said Smith just had to play.

Vandermeer was very good tonight, but what’s the point in ever selecting him again ?

Overall it was a pretty good effort, but this current team has too many down patches.
That 3rd quarter and early last was as bad as it gets.

VDM is becoming a complete liability, if he wasn’t already.

Centre clearance was a disaster in the second half.

We seem to lose all forward and attacking structure after quarter time at the moment

The result obviously isn't his fault and I'm sure he'll be a good player but we are basically playing a man down selecting Emmett. There's no logical reason to pick him.

The logic is he is better than Gardiner at the moment and has upside.

We only have Emmett, Gardiner, Croft and Will Darcy of that size that are fit and can play second ruck role at the moment.

Question is should we play Emmett or Croft ?

The goal on 1/2 time, the goal on 3/4 time, and the West brain fade in the 1st really were the killers. The omissions of Baker and Smith also hurt.
Otherwise, it was a good effort with very limited quality in the side. We may have turned the corner.

I think we can see why it is that the MC are so willing to persist and play VDM whenever he is fit.

He gives a point of difference as a pacy hard running high half forward. It was pretty clear that we lacked run and were down a rotation when he went off and Freo's mids got on top with their spread.

It's a shame that he cannot get a clear run at it.

Because he was on pace to play the best game of his career tonight.

Dolan will be good, but might not be ready yet.

Lewis showed signs he may be a good contributor with Darcy out. Was very composed tonight.

Shame about Vanders, he was playing well.

Richards looks fully back now.

Bont has been amazing, but still hampered, hopefully can shake it fully.

Naughton went from possible death to nothing happened, crazy.

If we play like that we win a big run of games from here with the draw. Everyone back soon (except Darcy). The lights are at least flickering again.

I'd see he's 33 and this ****ery won't go on much longer. The man is 27 for God's sake. One of those players who is Footscray kryptonite as it stands. So fast on the snap, Elite on ball, pace is delicious. We can't even set up our flood, he's so quick.

Played like a level headed senior player, seperating him from the abundance of sub-50 gamers we've been playing lately. I hope he gets a good run at it

I don't blame him at all because the effort was there and he didn't select himself, but I'll be fascinated to see the stats for how many ruck contests Emmett attended for his 2 hit outs.

The kid will be a good if not very good player. Not close to ready yet

I hope the coaching staff send Emmett back into the VFL get some confidence back. He has had a rough month but at least he has got a taste what AFL Football is like can only grow from here on out as a player

Not sure what Dolan is bringing to the game at the moment. I don’t watch the VFL, is he killing it at that level? I find it hard to believe with how he plays at this level. I really hope Cody is ready to play again soon. Great to see Arty back and he makes a big difference with his pressure and forward half play. Dolan provides virtually nothing. A real shame that VDM can’t stay healthy. I think Baker should have held his spot also, definitely over Dolan and probably Davidson also.
