Brisbane are a great team. They're going to make anyone playing them look either shakey or poor.
In saying that, we play like a team with little drive, deflated, little strength.

McKay getting the Bronx cheers is what it is. I think he would be better served getting form in the VFL, away from the spotlight, away from the crowds. He can still give something at AFL.

I understand feeling a bit trepidatious with Sharp. Not because I don’t think he’ll be good, but what will make him great?

Yet to show a real weapon at the elite level IMO, a bit like Alex de Minaur a few years ago. I think he’ll be fine, but he’s the perfect type of player for our development coaches to go to work on.

High floor, uncertain ceiling, so what will they do to get the absolute best out of him?

Will have another look but I thought it was better than last week. Last week we gave up. This week I just think they where a class above and we got done by a side with more polish who could execute better.

We have our obvious issues with a few guys who need to be moved on and they young blokes getting a bit of a lesson as far as how a good side operates.

I think people need to see him for what he is. If you are looking for great then you are not going to find it.
He is a team first hard working leader. His role is the down and dirty stuff and working hard no questions asked.

I thought Draper said some nice things. Love him or hate him, he left on good terms.
He celebrated when Cox kicked his goal too.

That wasn't all bad. Brisbane is an elite outfit. Still some good signs.
Speaking of signs, Essendon needs to tie up Caddy long-term, spare the expense.

Effort and competitiveness was there, they are just fundamentally broken and playing without any discernible method or predictability with and without the footy.

Agreed, he needs a spell in the magoos as his confidence is absolutely shot.

There was a period of play in the second half which summed up where McKay is at. Rose highest at a contest with the opportunity to mark, instead he went straight for the spoil which went to an oppo player, who then centred the ball to a forward inside 50 who then goaled.

Not that it is an immediate like for like but hope to see Hayes build towards 2027 and pick up where he left off. Looked very assured for a first year player before he did his ACL.

We just have to take our lumps as this is what a rebuild is like, sort the wheat from the chaff, hit the draft and with an astute trade or two hope the tide will turn. And by the end of the season make some calls on certain senior players.

Probably had about 3 players that could beat their direct opponent. We can’t mark the ball cos we are so undersized. Felt sorry for Nguyen a couple of times got in good positions just for a taller opponent to steal the chocolates. He wasn’t alone.

Hasn’t done much so far but I’m Bullish about Robey’s prospects. All young players made mistakes but I thought Caddy played a decent game wish he converted another goal or so. Farrow and Sharp small glimpses some mistakes. Older players a bit meh. I think they need an overhaul at the end of the year. Get Setterfield in.

Don’t mind that we have gutted the list the last 3 years but if we are aiming at a certain age profile at the expense of good players it’s stupid imo. The depth of the league isn’t that deep for us to pick and choose like that. We need to turn over some of our senior players as aggressively as we have with the rest of our list.

Maybe a different take, but I didn't hate it.

We were always going to lose to the back to back premiers that have been kissed on the dick with father sons and the benefit of their academy as an AFL franchise. Was anyone expecting a win?

We lost badly, but we also showed glimpses. Young players showed some good signs, and some seniors had good games.

We clearly let them get some easy goals, but when the floodgates seemed open, we actually managed to grab some momentum back off them when it could've turned into a much bigger loss. The percentage means little. We might be helping our draft hand while getting some on field benefit in games like this.
