I think the wider feeling would be that once the club has made a decision we’d choose to support the player we have and hope they succeed to expectation.

Given the pre draft chat and our needs it was always going to be hard not to have regrets about Watson not being at North. All I can do is think that if he played for us he wouldn’t be this - and now at least be happy that the punt on FOS in another year is looking like an excellent call.

Dovaston will likely turn out ok but we jumped thinking a small forward was going to be the new flavour instead of going for “safer” picks.

That will always happen.

We did pick dovaston then threw him in the deep end when he was not ready though.

And I’m not sure he was the right pick for us and our forwardline fit wise

Blues basic skills are below basic. Butchering kicks. Turning a 4 on 2 into a turnover. Missing kicks from in front of goal. Handballs to nowhere. We know how good Brisbane can be bringing the pressure but the Blues are VFL level technically with ball in hand under pressure.

If we drafted Josh Lindsay, you can bet posters would be saying great ball user, but can't defend 1v1, as we'd likely be playing him off half back.

No doubt Watson is a very good player, but I didn't think he suited North being a smaller club.
He may have stayed with us, but who's to say he wouldn't head to Pies after 3 years of his contract?
It was pretty clear with his comments he wanted to play for a big club on the MCG and that he thrives on the crowd.
I'm sure we'll find a small fwd with elite speed to pair with Dov soon enough.
