Hoping we can really take it up to them today, Hope matty took note of how the Crows played yesterday, not so much the game plan, but just the ferocity in which they attacked the ball, our lads need to start showing that same hunger, Lets go lads !

Likewise I hope to see a much more intense, ferocious style of play than what we witnessed throughout the first half last week. Even the first quarter looked flat against Richmond.

We're likely to get mauled in the ruck and our forward line looks very under-powered and under-resourced to compete with their big defenders. Normally we go into games expecting a height advantage up forward and it doesn't amount to anything on the scoreboard. Today, we have a forward line of stick talls who either can't clean take marks (Butcher) or look for the nearest drain pipe to hide in when an opponent comes to stand them (Stewart and Westhoff). If we bang it in long to our forward line we will be massacred, especially if Sandilands drops back.

The only thing I'm looking forward to today is to see if Jacobs can keep up his good form.

The coach can only do so much.
Today I think its about the players, in short, hardening the f*** up especially around the stoppages.
How they bounce back against a less than poor performance against Richmond last week.

So we're taking out Sandi and Mundy before the match? :p

But seriously, Matty shouldn't need to watch other teams to take notice of that. But you just gave me a funny image of Matty sitting at home watching the Crows on TV, seeing them win a few good contested possessions in a row and suddenly standing up and yelling 'I've got it! We should attack the ball harder! I've gotta go tell the boys about the great idea I got from watching this game!'

We have been competitive for all our games (except 1 qtr), including against the ladder leaders. We MUST remember this and believe it today or we're going to get pumped ala 2011 and the season will be gone (as too the captain and coach by end of year). I can accept a loss in Perth but not Richmond qtr 2.

lol, Maybe he just sits there mumbling it all makes sense now. I just think Sando has got them up and going and there a lots of little things in there game that can be highlighted for our boys, you say he shouldn't have to, but nothing else is working

I'd like to think we are a sneaky chance at winning, but then I sort of expect the scores will be something like 1.1 to 6.5 at 1/4 time.

Port's most successful years where we had 2 ruckmen - Primus, Lade or Brogan.

In the same way we should have 2 of Renouf, Redden or Lobbe in the 22.

Please never compare Primus, Lade and Brogan to Renouf, a young Redden and a young Lobbe ever again.

You may as well say 'Port's most successful years where when we had an excellent key forward in Warren Tredrea, therefore we should play Daniel Webb because he's also a key forward'.

Unless we win, we have nothing to take out of this game.

More crap about being competitive if we lose up to 5 goals. Playing Freo in Perth and combined with Lyon's gameplan that's most likely. Over that and we know we're shot. The players are weak and Primus has nothing. Groundhog day.

Last year it took us 2 weeks to recover from the Gold Coast match and really take it up to Hawthorn, I'm hoping we can recover a bit quicker from Richmond.

I hate getting pre game optimism. It always ends in misery.

Can't see anything other than a Fremantle win. Unless they absolutely bottle it and we play 4 quarters

If we can be competitive against the Lyon forward press... we could get close. Obviously, so much relies on our mids and reading the Sandilands taps.

Crowley will probably run with Boak... so we need very good games from Brad, Mc, Hammer, Kane, Rodan and whatever youngsters can progress.

Hill's speed and endurance will be a worry... we don't have a good match up for him.

Quite happy with our defenders covering their forwards... Chappy to Pavlich as per standard... Surjan on the pest. Trengove should take Clarke.

Our forwards though will be in for a tough time. They have height and rebounding speed in spades... Mzungu has been in good form.

Again I think our entire side looks a little to one-paced compared to Freo's... but then again... 1st to the ball + use it well = other side looks slow.

Looking forward to Ebert having a big game on his old ground. Also watching for the development of our players.... see who can respond and grow.
