Big day, UFC 146 then...

Well I think nobody can be certain which Fremantle we will see today. No doubt many of us are hoping for a "statement" game, I'll be honest I am approaching this with no small amount of trepidation. Are we capable of the the win? No doubt. Does this mean we sack the coach in the event of a loss? I'll leave that decision to you mob. Interesting match ups abound. However being in MMA mode I'm more interested in the overall battle between wrestling, BJJ specialist Lyon's Dockers versus the well rounded stand-up and takedown defense of Worsfold's Eagles.

Let the fun/stress/glory/humiliation begin!

I'm expecting that today will be our turning point in the season...We will perform the best we have for the year.

Freo by 27 points..

Predictions:
Result - Eagles by 20
Late changes - None
Sub - Crichton
BOG - Johnson
Most goals - Ballas 3
Blood rule used - twice
50m given away by Dawson - 2
Post game roast threads - 7

Paying $41 on centrebet. If we did win, he'd be as good a chance as any I'd have thought

If that happens, I still reckon the poodle will be given the roscoe. Only 2 50s given away by Dawson? With Margetts and Farmer playing for the slime? Might be 2 each I think.

Amazed at how much talk has been going on in the town this week about the lack of culture at Freo and the lack of success. Hope the Dockers dent the WC arrogancy today. Good luck.

Match ups I'd like to see.....

Silvagni v Darling...seems logical match up
Dawson v Cox/Hackanui....logical again
Johnson v Lynch....would rather MJ on a bigger bloke rather than J Hill
McPharlin to CHF....something different & Glass would have to go to him
Crowley v Scott Selwood...forget Kerr, SS has been WCE best mid this year
JVB v Kerr...lock down role & niggle
Hill v Shuey...Hill needs to go head to head with Shuey
Griffin & Zac Clarke to start in goal square
Pavlich to start in middle, then loiter around half forward
Ballantyne to half forward role & assist JVB at stoppages
Mundy v Priddis...mainly at stoppages, around ground; Broughton
de Boer v Hurn...defensive match up
Mayne v Waters...lock down role. If Waters goes forward, Mayne can follow

If the match ups are right & the intensity/aggression is on early & we can be level or in front at 1/4 time I think we'll go onto win.

Barlow for Medal

Mundy, Barlow, Pav, Ballantyne have been carried by our 2nd tier players (Pearce, MJ, Mzungu etc) - we need them to step up this game & show some leadership. I think they can do that.

Tipping Frank Mir by submission.

UFC derby.. hmmz

Perhaps if Freo' are switched on we can shoot straight away because they know WC have a good striking game and little BJJ/Sub grappling game, Freo move quick for a double leg take down, WC try to pull guard, we pass their guard quickly and take side control, give them a few hammerfists to the face, take north south, overhook their left arm and think about a bow and arrow choke, WC try to escape by sitting up, Freo let them sit up so we can take back control, WC throw a rear head butt, give Freo a blood nose, Freo taste their own blood Bruce Lee style, get refocused and decide to get serious, Freo tuck into solid back control and try to choke, WC desperately hold on with grips in defending choke, Freo then try different tactic by switching to arm bar set up and quickly pivot to the side and smash on a classic armbar. WC whimper and tap. Crowd goes wild. Freo wanted to try some cool stuff like a omaplata or some X guard sweeps but the opportunity never came up.

That's aways the case in Perth.

We are sick of hearing how a state side which had a two year moratorium on the WAFL and therefore able to pick the top 7 players from the 1985 Teale Cup squad won two flags before we came into the comp in 1995.

They have only won one since we came in and that was due to having a mid-field consisting of Chris Judd, who then walked out on the club a year later due to a certain culture being at the club at the time. Ben Cousins, who was the certain culture at the club at the time. And Daniel Kerr who still continues to dominate after a checkered career both on and off the field.

If the Dockers were given the same armchair ride as the Eagles were given when they came into the competition we would not be having this conversation today.

Should be a very interesting game to see were we are at.

To the Purple Army going to the game today be as loud as possible and drown the golf claps of the duckers! Carn Freo!!! :thumbsu:

Bit of mail (mainly Brad Hardy) that says Nic Nat out today. If that's the case Freo by 24pts. If not Freo by 34pts.:)

Hey Sam! Good to see you on the boards again! You might try to find a pub with Foxtel else the humble PC with net access is the go. I'm not familiar with current sites that do live streams as I have Fox but maybe someone wiser than me can pm you or else google is your friend!
Good luck!

Early in the week I was tipping an easily 50point win to the Eagles but if the rumors about NicNat been out are true, I'm changing my tip to a 20point win to the Eagles.

Thanks E.... may give Jupiters a crack!

Retired St Kilda midfielder Steve Baker says Fremantle is on the road to success.

ONE of the key cogs in Ross Lyon's St Kilda machine has urged Fremantle fans to be patient and said the Dockers were capable of being a power once the game plan "clicked".
Heading into today's Derby, which could shape Fremantle's season, retired Saint Steve Baker, whose 203-game career at St Kilda took in Lyon's five years at the helm, threw his support behind the coach's defensive strategy, but admitted there were growing pains in its infancy.

"Our brand of football was quick and direct under Thommo (former coach Grant Thomas),'' Baker said.

I guess patience is a virtue. Freo by 8pts.

Will be interesting to see how Sandi, Griff and Clarke go in the same team. Hopefully well! Our midfield will have to work super hard for us to have any chance. I think WC will win by around 25 points but i really hope i am wrong, a win would cap off the weekend very nicely.

Why is everyone thinking that Natanui will be a loss for the Eagles? If the rumour is true, it actually increases their marking ability around the ground.

He turns their midfield from mostly being a bunch of plodders to looking like A-graders with a tonne of space. I know everyone thinks he's the most overrated player in the game, but seeing what he does for that team I reckon he's one of the most underrated.

He is underrated in the fact that everybody thinks he is overrated. He is ridiculously important in the center square. Around the ground he is brought back to the pack of other ruckmen. But he gifts us a few goals every game from great ruck/follow up work.

Looking forward to a physical contest and Balla firing up the West Coast crowd. He is going to have a field day today. Thrives on that s**t :thumbsu:
