IMO his development is heading in a similar way to Kane Cornes. Cornes started out as a very defensive player whose skills were questioned regularly - here in Adelaide, anyway - but is now a damaging midfielder in his own right. Tagging the big names has taught him how to find the ball, find space and damage teams with his skills. Walker will hopefully do the same

I reckon Tex will develop into an elite midfielder that is mindful of the defensive side of the game... if he continues to learn the lessons being taught to him.

Have to agree. There is only one Kouta and I think he is the most gifted player to have played the game. However whilst the knee injury has hampered him I believe his mind has stopped him from realising his potential to be the best ever. Had Kouta the mental toughness of Voss or Buckley he would have been so much better than either of these guys.

Walker has much ability but also needs to toughen up mentally. He has undoubtably improved in this area but has slipped a little of late. His one grab marking has to improve aswell. Rare talent though.
The difference between the pair was that Koutoufides was allowed to learn the game while playing senior football alongside champions such as Williams and Kernahan.
Walker's early years in senior football have seen him exposed to the world without the champion playrs around him.
He will develop into an elite level player, such as koutoufides, but the difference is that he has had to make the progression the harder way.
Mind you, Kouta spent two years on our list before he became a regular member of the senior team.

I have just finished reading the first 5 installments of jeremias player profiles (Walker, Russell, Murphy, Livingston, Kennedy). I reckon this guy is the pick of them. There is no limit to what this guy can do or achieve in the future. He seems to have every attribute to make him the quality of a McLeod, Judd, Hodge etc if he is able to fulfil his potential. He has that x-factor or I guess 'freak' about him, that gives the impression that if he has a day out soon, we will see something we haven't seen since the Kouta days (remember vs. Eagles at PP in '99 I think). I honestly believe that he is the type that can destroy the very best players going around if he is on song and playing with extreme confidence. Needs to improve his kicking.

I think you have made some very good points here. Many of our younger players are struggling in the present environment. Walker has the ability to be a star and hopefully he can overcome the present obstacles.

Just watched the replay on Foxtel and there were some worrying signs though. He just seems to have lost some spark especially with the chasing and tackling. Also his timing in leaping for marks is pretty erratic.

Has taken a giant leap from last year and we can start to see why he was so highly rated and taken at No.2 in the draft. AW could be anything really. Once he improves his kicking and decision making, which will come with more experience, he really could be a once in a generation player. Looking forward very much to his continual improvement.
