Reckon..I liked the way he kept trying to take the game on even when he made some mistakes.
I think the coaches have done a good job with him.
He also has a bit of innate figjam. Trusts himself after a mistake to pull off whatever action it was the next time round. In moderation, that's a bloody valuable commodity

I’ve always associated this with somebody being up themselves.
I get what you’re saying about Colby’s confidence to not go back into his shell after a mistake though.

Good calls that he was just about our best player in the second half of the year.
Here’s hoping both he & FOS keep progressing at a decent pace this year.

Maybe confidence would be a better way to put it. I'm just so pleasantly surprised by a bloke who is both seriously talented and receptive to feedback that I'm inclined to elevate him to a level above opponents

So with all the carry on about our finish to the season, are we still disappointed having the Kercher over the dude in WA.

Is top 6 for us in the following categories.

1.metres gained
2.inside 50's
3.disposals
4.goals
5. rebounds 50

Dunno but for mine he seems the exact player we needed out of all else available.

You would have both McKercher and Ried though. The player not picked up would have been Dursma.

Yeah I’d have thought figjam would be an external thing but yeah he’s confident I get it , it’s good

Very happy with Colby. Reid may become a super player, but to this point other than a few individual highlights he hasn't done enough to make me regret missing out on him and subsequently taking McKercher 👍

Evolution for Colby is he is top 3 in all these categories next year, with #4 staying around 5-6th position.

Yeah agree, and he is probably 1 of 2 players that could win a Brownlow for us in the future. Loving what he achieved especially the second half of the season, those long raking goals, we missed having someone being able to do that.

2026 game plan: get the ball to McKercher and get the **** out of the way.

Colby is more accurate with 2 white sticks in front of him, than his general kicking out of the backline. A few games here and there where he coughed up a few turnovers as he is still a little too dependent on his left peg. Best Colby is when he takes the game on. A joy to watch.

Yes of course. Although we couldn't have done that. My point was I hope those upset with us winning that game are now feeling a little better. Haven't watched a lot of WCE, but I think we've only scratched the surface with McKercher.

It's a moot point anyway, GC were so awful they handed us the win. Would've taken 2009 Melbourne level blatantly obvious shaningans to try and lose that game.

That does assume the AFL would have still played nice and given us band 1 compo for McKay. There was a school of thought at the time that their secret spices would have spat out an end of 1st round instead of we'd got the #1
