How was Turner's form on his return to the VFL after his injury? I thought he looked very very comfortable at AFL level and played his 1st game like it was his 50th.
Was he THAT good? I think he looks like a decent prospect, but his debut was ok. When I've seen him at VFL level he's looked competent without standing out. Problem for him is that he's not getting a consistent game for at least the next couple of years unless an injury to May, Lever or Petty occurs. And then he's probably behind Tommo and possibly even Smith. Can we turn him into a forward? We need one of those!

Reckon he'd be ahead of Smith easily and probably Tommo too, although isn't as tall so more a 'tweener kinda defender in my mind. Not someone who'll play on the huge KPFs but capable as an interceptor 3rd man in player. If Hibbo retires maybe takes his spot, though that probably makes us too tall down back.

I honestly didn’t notice him at all on QB. I guess I was sitting on the top deck so maybe I was a bit out of it but I’m surprised by all the raving

He was solid, comfortable with the pace of the game at AFL level and confident enough to attack the ball when he had the opportunity.

That's enough to tell me we've found one that should develop quite nicely.

Was great news getting this kid signed up. Gets up the ground and contests in the air and then has the speed to burn his opponent heading back to goal. Doesn’t miss either. His improvement in the last few weeks alone has been immense

Watching the replay today, he actually had a really underrated game. Obviously an important 3 goals, but his contest work in bringing the ball to ground front and centre was excellent and something Petty or a smaller Fritta just can't do atm. Not sure he can be that link man we need across half forward, but he showed some positive signs this game. Great leg on him too. Love his enthusiasm though. Maybe something to work with as a forward after all.

At the very least, he might make it as a forward purely because he's an amazing kick for goal, even at a distance.

Some people just need to be played consistently in the seniors to take the next material step. Hope he stays with the current number on his back and makes it his own.

Are you often reminded of articles 13 years ago about Jack Watts?
Sometimes, but mostly the ones that become running jokes on BigFooty for entire seasons.

Reminds me of that article from 2012 about Jack Watts leading the comp for intercept marks between rounds 7-11.
It's a small sample size sure, but surely you are impressed by how well he's been doing down back? Can he keep that up? Not sure. Can he perform this well against the best teams in the comp? Not sure. But watching him live last week, he was as impressive as I've seen him. Assured decision maker. Good contested mark. Moves and positions himself well. Gotta settle him into this role across half back. We won't need Howes and Tmac can retire if this bloke stays the oourse. Can float forward and be interchangeable with Petty which gives us matchup options. Can play Lever's role as well if needed. Only 23 and yet to hit prime. Not suggesting he'll be Sam Taylor levels of good, but he's showing very positive signs.

I like Turner. He's been impressive. Was a mid-season draft pick so was a fair chance his career never amounted to much. He's done well.
