Think that answers it mdunn.

No it doesnt.

There was West Coast v Carlton mentioned above

and if memory serves correct

Kanagroos pummelled Carlton in the last round of that year by about 130 points.

By the way, can you believe five years ago Carlton beat West Coast by 100 points?? 2001 was a looooooooooong time ago hey Blues fans.

I suspect we're going to see another few yet this year. All four of the current top 4 look to have enough power in their sides to absolutely maul the bottom couple of clubs if they're in the mood and get on a roll.

So why are we so interested in this? 2000 had 4 thrashings in the space of 8 weeks. I'm not trying to put you down just wondering what the significance is.

Lol, will fix it.

I have no idea, and not really willing to find out either, :D

didn't Carlton beat Melbourne by over 100 in 2000 in round 12 I think?

Interesting that in Carlton's two wooden spoon years we only got done by over 100 points once, but in the two years inbetween them three times, including twice in a year we almost made the finals.

I found it interesting anyway, weird moreso

Not AFL, but Gisborne Seniors in the Bendigo League have won their last 4 games by over 100 points and one of them was against Castlemaine who were 2nd at the time.

Over 100 points is a pantsing. North used to hand them out, and the past fw years we have suffered more than our share. Blessedly I had forgotten almost all of them, so thanks for the walk down memory lane...

Can some trivia champ help me with this one, though? I've been wondering since the Pies/Geelong game, and Richmond's apparent turnaround, what was the last team to suffer a 100+ pantsing and recover to win the flag the same season?

I have a loose theory, based on nothing much at all, that says that the more even the competition becomes, the more likely you are to have blow-out results. It is just so hard to come up every week for a tough game, whereas in the past, there were games where you could mentally relax and still win comfortably.
