Then you deal with that scenario when it comes up.

It's only October 21st.

Players are still human beings. You avoid firing people on a Friday or just before Christmas because that's a real campaignery thing to do.
Jj just got told he’s delisted and he’s in America. Players know it’s coming they don’t need a face to face. They aren’t going to come all the way into the club just to have a 30 second meeting.

Maybe JJ won't be back in time. Maybe their list manager is a shit bloke.

It literally costs nothing to wait to do it in person.

It's really not that hard not to be a campaigner when you're firing someone who's worked hard.

The sooner the better chance of getting picked up as a delisted free agent. or in the PSD.

Fot a guy like Setterfield, not really. He's well established as a player and any team that thinks about taking him on will invite him to train.

Gives us the space to use our draft picks and for Will to look at other options and see if anyone is interested.

It's a no-brainer for both. Who cares when or how it's done if it's essentially a good result for both. I doubt he didn't think he was likely to be de-listed. He was probably included in a lot of trade discussions too and was probably informed of this.

It's a professional sport and EFC isn't a charity and we don't owe anything to these players any more (not saga-time any more).

He's borderline list-clogger due to his overall ceiling and injury history.

If he goes to dogs and can stay on the park I reckon he compliments their midfield really well.
I reckon he would be fantastic at the cats alongside Holmes and Smith if he could get his body right. Whoever picks him up he won’t cost much so it would be worth the free hit for them.
