I don't get this whole retiring numbers crap. Why do it? As if Richo would want it. I just don't see how it practically honours a retiring champ. It would be more of an honour IMO for the number to be passed on to a player who Richo, and the club, feels deserves it. Surely it would be Post.

Hird's went to Stanton, Buckley's to Maxwell. I would therefore suspect the club will also pass it on to the candidate they feel fits the bill rather than retiring it.

I remember our humiliating 80 point loss when Nathan Burke gave his jumper to X Clarke after the game.

Your right PRF it will put alot of pressure on him but that will be his biggest test! no point just cruizing his way through the AFL! take a punt and wear the number of a great and do the jumper and club proud! No-one expects him to come out and kick 50+ next year just because he wears the #12....but give him 3 years and hopefully we can look back and say that it was a great move giving him Richos old Number!
