Xavier Clarke has given him a big wrap in his scratch match summary.

"Continued to play his role. He's certainly going to be a good player in the future, his run and ability is phenomenal for a young kid. He copped a corky early but that didn't stop him from getting up and down the ground and he was also rewarded with a goal."

He is also one of the young players that have travelled to the hub, which is also a good sign.

Richmond’s Round 8 team:

HB Nick Vlastuin, Liam Baker, Jayden Short

Foll Ivan Soldo, Marlion Pickett, Kane Lambert
I/C Shai Bolton, Jack Higgins, Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Mabior Chol

Getting big wraps from our coaches and opposition coaches in the combined scratch matches up in the hub.

Xav couldn’t hide his excitement - big pack marks, break away pace, kicking multiple goals playing wing and forward. Also drawing high praise from Luke Beveridge (who he trained with prior to draft).

Like the sound of this kid for s future medium forward/ wing role.

That was fantastic to hear. Always great to hear that another team wanted him and is admiring his performance. When your a first year midfielder is getting spoken more highly than a second year midfielder, I always take that as a great sign for the future.

It’ll be interesting to see how the 2019 crop turns out from memory there wasn’t a lot of excitement (well not on here).
But already Dow and Ralphsmith showing a bit in their first year.

The training reports about Will Martyn were promising during preseason, been injured since the restart though so everything has gone quiet.

As for Ralphsmith important to keep in mind that the 16 vs 16 or less format should really suit his style of play and he is type to have real exciting moments but consistency throughout 4 quarters has been an issue in the past, so when coaches talk up his game it may be case of having real highs that draw opposition coaches attention rather than a full body of work.

The format of game should also be factored in with RCD. A player who does his best work in contested situations isn't probably going to standout in an open free flowing practice match, especially when he is building his tank whereas a player like Ralphsmith running stats are supposedly off the charts relative to his time in the system.

I reckon next year is his make or break year, if he can't cement a spot as best 22 by end of 2021 we might either cut him or suggest he look elsewhere for opportunity
The Suns seem to be our choice for both Dumping & Receiving Goods.:)

Factor in many were still basking in the glory of being premiers , when considering the lack of conversation around the draft .

Re Martyn, what was his injury? Remember Cumberland did an ACL but heard nothing about Martyn

It was a bit of an epic discussion

Vlastuin replacement?

Probably more suited to being of a rebounding defender at this stage rather than intercept defender like Vlastuin but no reason why for the next couple of weeks Grimes could play the role Vlastuin plays given our up coming opponents.

Would hope that if the club is as excited about Ralphsmith as their comments throughout preseason have suggested than they would give him a chance before rushing houli back.
