The criticism was from the Tigers at the draft interview who challenged him on his defensive running.

His fitness was average not Constable/Rayner bad with a 8plus 2km.
Yeah, that's what I mean, it was in the news at the time about the Tigers' comments.

for those guys making it to the Northern blues games, what are Stocker stocks as a half back like? clearly he has some defensive skills to learn. He is apparently combative and contested which is a good start. What is his pace and agility like? is he going to be able to defend the small forwards? Is he going to be able to break the lines on the way out of 50 or his only offensive weapon his kicking?

Stats: 16 disposals, five marks, seven rebound 50s
From the coach: ’Stock’ continues to impress and grow parts of his game defensively. His ball-use across half-back was terrific. He’s still learning and adapting to our defensive systems and structure but he’s showing growth in that each week. We’re really pleased with how he’s developing. To get 16 disposals in that half-back area of the ground is a good return.

- Improving by the week ✅
- Classy across half-back ✅
This is what development coach Shane Watson made of Liam Stocker's performance on the weekend. 👇#BoundByBlue

Fanks !!

Just on the Russell talk, I'm probably a page or two late, but, I think Weitering is looking fitter and moving better than ever so far and Cripps is in the top 20 for overall gametime at the moment (making it more inpressive he is the only midfielder on that list) with 92% game time. Also add to that he's looking and playing stronger than ever before. He's always been strong but this year has been outrageous even for him. Murphy is also looking leaner and a bit quicker, surprising given his age.

There's others I could name, but I won't go on. I'm sure it's no coincidence that Russell comes in and Cripps' fitness and strength suddenly shoots up another level and Murphy, physically, looks years younger.

Didn't get to watch the Geelong game - appears another step forward. Did anyone watching feel his agility/speed/position as a defender was AFL standard?

Still have the feeling he is playing HBF as a learning curve, and he will ultimately play Mid/Forward in the ones.
