One of his best games & he still looked slow of mind, has no right foot, didn’t go when it was his turn to go.

Don’t see how you can see a grand final winning player in him.

Can’t be trusted to go when it’s his turn.

A lot of fit players out there who could run around half back & the wing and get it 20+. Got to be more than that.

Hard nosed defence might not be your
primary role but at some point you’re going to need to do it. And we know he can’t or won’t.

got to expect more than just “better than terrible”.

That’s how we ended up with Bailey Scott finishing what was it, 3rd? In a B&F.

And people were acting like it meant he was good - not that we were rubbish.

The likes of Jaicos, Langdon, Isaac Smith, McCluggage are recent premiership wingers. Not one is renowned for their hard ball gets or tackles - but time & time again I’ve seen them take their moment defensively when ended to stop a goal, cut off an entry, cop a fend off because they took the tackle & won rather than corral.

Credit to Dylan for working on his game and seeing some results. A lot of players drop their heads when things don't go their way. He's had many critics but the coaching team saw something and kept playing him. I think he's a confidence player. He didn't get much of a look in at Sydney and seriously struggled with us in the early stages. If he starts to believe in himself he has the tools to become a seriously good footballer 🤞
A lot of complaining here that he doesn't go in hard but realistically it's important that a team has outside players who stay off the packs to give the in and under players a release option. That's what Stephens is there to do and to a large extent, he's playing that role fairly well. I think there's room for improvement, but he's come quite a long way since his first few games with North so he's shown he's capable of learning and applying himself to the team plan.

I believe that as a winger he ought to be rolling back into defense a lot harder possibly giving the backline the outnumber they so badly require when fast breaks from turnovers occur, provided he's not in the play directly. But he's not Robinson Crusoe in terms of being soft in defensive skills. Archer and Hardiman, a seven gamer would be our best defenders at the moment.

His last 2 games have been good and I havnt seen him shirk a contest in either.
Baby steps, but he looks a player to me. Dependable running and keeps his width almost always.

Not sure where this 'not going in hard enough' thing is coming from. It was an issue before but he competed pretty well for some loose balls around the wings.

Yeah he'll get caught, but so does LDU, Jy, Powell, Sheezel etc. They all get caught. It happens. It what they do after that matters.

Not saying he is "there" a walk up start or whether he will be there in 18 months. Just that he is putting in enough of a shift now and delivering skills that we desperately are lacking in. The minute someone harder comes along that can remotely put the ball to a team mates advantage I'll pack his bags if he hasn't improved.

I expect more, but if this is his baseline I'm comfortable we can make a useful player out of him with some improvement.
He doesn't shirk contests now but he doesn't have the intensity or physical strength to win them, or even hold his line at the ball and halve them, as often as he should.

Played a good couple of games, but to me he's still squad of 30 depth long term.
Yep. I agree.

Getting a lot of praise for a very small sample of above the line performances at the Club.

I guess that's where we're at.

There were still a few instances where he was like a deer in the headlights and froze. Needs to work on that.

Welcome aboard the bandwagon

Showing why he was a top 5 pick

Potential to be an elite winger
He has really addressed his ‘cat’ tendencies. Has been cracking in for a while now.
Confidence player in that regard.
