The best news, IMO, is that Dyl’s improvement has exactly coincided with our better defensive efforts. I don’t believe this to be a fluke. I’ve always thought his role can only thrive when the fundamentals and spine is functioning as it should. You just can’t expect Stephens to be what he’s clearly not - a tackling beast. His role is to give us spread and deliver the ball efficiently. On top of that, he’s capable of sweet little skills to produce a goal like he did on Sunday.

It’s great Dylan Stephens is kicking goals now.

How else can he further improve to help the team?

Clean up his disposal just abit and he becomes a solid enough wingman. Covers the ground well.

It's nice to see a highly taken draft pick show some of the traits that got them rated in the first place, shows how disposable some of these guys can be. I've probably been lighter on Konstanty for the same reason but clear as day some players just need consistent AFL footy to work through their confidence issues. It's too cut throat sometimes to allow that though.

reliable
A consistent performer now

Exactly you can’t teach talent

You need to have some to begin with and this guy does

Confidence can be grown

Really good points.

I suspect that is why we were keen to reward Hansen (and soon Maley) with deals, even though they aren’t the finished products. As you said, it is quite cut throat and doesn’t always work out.
