Playing 16 a side football = netball. Good one. :drunk:
Was referring more to the ideas presented in previous years of incorporating zones and restricting the number of players per zone... but you run with netball if you like.

I don't mind the idea. I'd definitely prefer this to zones. My only fear is would it mean the end of KPP, as sides start going for athleticism even more than they do now over football ability.

One point might be it would lessen the weight of suggestions for Bibs and Zones

Na that's fair the zone idea is horrendous.

Mark Evans..... What can we say. On the AFL website this morning he wants to look at trialling 16 or even 15 a side for the AFL. What are peoples thoughts? How would it change the game? How would people respond?

I know how i would respond and it's very simple. If it were to happen the last game of footy i ever go to watch would be the last 18 a side game. This guy is an affliction on the game. A virus that needs extermination before anymore of his absolute bullshit theories, opinions and ideas take root.
I think we can all conclude you're not in favour of this proposal.

Now, if it's not too much to ask, would you mind sharing with us the rationale behind your passionately-held view?

All it will mean is that all teams will look for a ruckman that can play all day and will drop a key defender. There will still be the same amount of congestion through the middle. The AFL and mark evans in particular are the second most incompetent group of people i have ever seen. The worst is the AFL umpiring department. Wait,,, i may be wrong i forgot about the joke that is the match review panel.

Less congestion means more space for KPP to operate in. I reckon it would help them if anything. I mean, the last decade hasn't exactly been a golden era for key forwards.
Not saying I'm in favour of changing, but am curious to see a trial or two.

I have to agree, I'd like to see it trialled too.

It would reduce the level of congestion that has been a blight on the game for a decade or so. It's not the worst idea going around.

Who cares if it's Mark Evan's idea, play the ball not the man.
Just get rid of the F$$#@#%$#@#@#$%$$#@$@$$ %$#$#$#%$ %$#@#@$&%^&%#**&#%$&* ing interchange!!!!

Couldn't care less if it's 16 a side in the AFL but like everything else they do it has a knock on effect so every other league would probably follow. So is there anyone who watched the VFA go from 18 to 16 a side have any ideas on how they think it changed the game to watch & play?

And we thought the fans were bored and came up with shit ideas to fill the time...

Good to see that management has gotten in on the fun too :drunk:o_O:eek::huh:

Never a post season bye again..

The theory is right but the practise would be different. Big men are already a rare species unless they have ridiculously high athletic capacity. 16 a side would see an increased need for athletic capacity, meaning even less big men.

Cricket tried reducing players (8 a side comps) but it's rarely the answer. For them it was T20. I don't think AFL had an issue that needs fixing at the moment.

I used to be for this idea due to the VFA, not so sure now, I think the game is good. A trial wouldn't hurt, but cant be done based on one season of trials would need to be at least 5 years of preseason matches to make sure.
