wouldn't it be good to have a 'retro' gameday thread, everyone (Blues and Tigs) starts watching the game right on 2pm Sat...and post comments as it unfolds...be interesting to see how the mobs see the umps and game...anyway, back to reality.

Haha not a bad idea. Something to do in summer.

Thank You. Magnificent!!

My all time favourite Richmond game.

I caught 72, 73, 74 grand finals. Had to stand. Couldn't see much.

Just watched the 1st half (again Colour is good. Balme throwing everything around, Fowler on Nichols. 15 yard penalties were cute. But already had out on the full. Centre square.

Out on the full came in 1968 or 69. It's not in the 67 GF but is in the 69.

This is the Ch9 vision with Ted Whitten and Butch Gale commentating and Wes Lofts special comments. I've not seen this vision before, some excellent low level close up shots that are not on the Ch7 vision. It must have been a hard watch for Wes Lofts.

Brings back fond memories of a 12yo at the time. Unfortunately I had no-one to take me to the game but I can still see myself cooped up in the garage listening to 3AW and willing the Tigers on with all my heart. Celebrated that evening by watching the replay on Ch7 then The Penthouse Club. From memory I think Dick Clay might have come on with the Premiership Cup. My sister wanted to watch Young Talent Time. Me being the eldest and a son of a migrant family she had no chance lol.

I say this is my favourite all time game because it changed my outlook then. Football was a massive part of a young boys life back then and after the disaster of the previous year I would have again been at the mercy of my a-hole Carlton mates who would have given it to us Richmond supporters without mercy. Amazing how the last 6 quarters of the 1973 season changed everything.

I was following the tiges from 67. As an 8 year old. Games occasionally or TV. As kids we followed good footballers. Elder bro liked Bob Skilton. Me, I liked Royce Hart. But Sheeds, Bourke, Barrot, Clay & Michael Green too. Living across the round from a footy ground. It'd be the soundtrack. Whistles on training nights, games every weekend. seniors or juniors. No traffic, just getting bitumen roads. Better childhood. I'd be at the footy ground, or going on big rides to the river. I remember the kid who tortured frogs, a serial killer now?

Attending grand finals in 72, 73, 74. Was amazing. As I got older my mates used to gather in the outer at the nearest ground. Windy Hill. Get some adult to escort us in and then get someone old looking to buy a few tinnies.

One mate's old man a part time bookie. Tim used to work for him race days a bit. He'd get us into the showgrounds and have a beer or 2 and a punt.

I'd been playing junior footy for a while but having no growth spurt. Wet leather footballs weighed a ton. Kicking 10 metres. I gave it up too short, too slow.

The club breaking the drought in 17 was amazing. I was attending around 1995 but I never got to attend a finals win for a long time. 95, Brisbane in 02 or 03, 2015.

2017. Beating Geelong along the way was a bonus.

Reminiscing about the good old days when we'd be playing footy in the park or on the streets every night until dark or we punched each other up, whichever came first. And in the summertime if we weren't at the local outdoor pool we'd be playing cricket in the streets.

How different the world is today. The only thing that hasn't changed is my love for the Mighty Tiges!!

Came on here to mention this.

There's footage from channel 9 for other Grand Finals if he ever finds it.

But what a great find -- and why did it take so long???
