So I heard the 19th Man Meeting is Tuesday March 11 in the Crows Shed. Times confirmed by twitter. I've never attended one of these, but often thought about it. Can anyone shed some light on what actually takes place at one of these meetings?

Will anyone from here be attending?

If someone does attend.
Please take a petition to be signed asking for the resignation of Trigg.

Some details from the AFC today:

Who needs a Barmy Army when we’ve got the 19th Man?

The Crows want you, the 19th Man to help us this season at our new home of football, Adelaide Oval.

We want our new home to become a fortress to be feared by opposition sides throughout the competition, but we need your help.

Think loud and proud and join staff and coaches to rehearse our new chants for 2014.

We want members and supporters to come along to the Shed Floor with their biggest voices on Tuesday March 11 from 6pm-7pm.

Dress for game day in your best navy, red and gold.

You are the 19th Man army!

Sounds kind of strange, but I think I may actually attend. I've been such a loud-mouth regarding our voice, or lack of, at home games. If it takes this event to finally loud and proud at the footy, then so be it. Considering that Port drowned us out at both Showdowns last year, I am glad the club is taking steps to improve the atmosphere.

I'm horrified at what chants the club has come up with.
I wonder if they take requests from the floor?

So many complain about our ageing quiet crowd... well the Club are trying to do something about it! I think it's a great initiative.

We, are, top of the league, say we are top of the league.
*May only be sung in pre-season when we're top alphabetically*

Well isn't this just a slap in the face to the CSG.

Like the idea, no idea how it will work in practice though.

No, it's a recognition that the csg is ageing and no longer as raucous as they once were. New oval, time for a change. People have to get behind it for it to work. Apathy will not change anything.

I think the new ground will do a lot but people have to embrace it. Hopefully sound doesn't escape as easily, people not sitting in large familiar groups and people who have lost their passion for the game don't want to go to the effort to change are replaced by a new generation of supporters and thats not a go at our older members, I know of a few who sat near me who were louder than everyone, had signs, got into the supporters around them to make noise, always made sure people in our bay came "the weathers not going to be this good next week but make sure you get here!" and then bring chocolate frogs for people who did. Great people. Ok I went on a bit there and definitely not the kind of people who wouldn't come anyway.

The organised things not for everyone, it's not really my thing plus I don't live close, but thats ok, I hope the people who do go make it a success and the people around them at the games get into it so long as its not too cringe worthy (im thinking lyrics on the screen with a bouncing ball highlighting the current word hahah) I'm always impressed at visiting Collingwood supporters ability to get the Collingwooooood chant going and hearing it at a packed MCG is even better as long as were not playing them.

Seriously?

Yup.

Our membership ads are pathetic, the campaigns are ordinary.

2012 we almost stole a flag led by guns like Tex and Danger and Sloaney and Jacobs; perfect opportunity for a campaign highlighting these young guns and how cruelly close we came to playing off in a GF.

A song like 'Battle Born' by The Killers (youtube it) with images of some of the devastating footy we played, intertwined with how shattered they were after the Hawks lose, followed by some more gun play or footage of them getting back up ready to fight again; would've been perfect.

Instead we get a shitty, boring and unimaginative ad with a bunch of ballbags joining the players to sing a lifeless, disinterested rendition of our Club song.

I get where you're coming from - I'd love a job in the club's marketing department, think I could actually make their campaigns work, and you're right, our marketing campaigns have been embarrassing of late, but I also think we need to give this 19th man meeting a chance. If it fails, then we can look at what went wrong, but it they pull it off and the chants get going at games, we truly will become like a 19th man with the atmosphere.

After previous attempts, won't be putting my hand up. I hope it's a success though. The club have consistently tried to get something going whether it was the old Gun Club, the Tribe, and now this. You can't fault their desire towards trying to stimulate crowd activity.

I suspect that the hill, and what I'm hoping will be more than a few rowdies standing there having a crack (with a few beers in their stomachs) will do more for 'atmosphere' than anything that the club is able to control. That's my hope, and it's where you'll find me.

I might have to go check it out. If it works, imagine how awesome the atmosphere will be at our home games.
This is the same opinion I'm under. The atmosphere and the general barracking has been dead quiet lately at AAMI Stadium. Someone gets up and cheers, and all the grey nomads look at you like you've got a third head or something. I will be attending this gathering, and I sincerely hope this finally makes a difference.

Soccer/cricket style chants just don't work in the AFL. The game is far too dynamic. Tipping this to be as successful as that Tribe business.

I'll stand by the Tribe's record in terms of generating noise at games.

We didn't run soccer style chants though. Agree that they don't work. The best are the simple ones that don't require a large diversion from watching the game. 'You Crows' should be a staple.

I think this is great idea as long as it's done right. Let's face it, "AD-EL-AIDE, AD-EL-AIDE, AD-EL-AIDE" was getting old. I think there is a 5% chance of them actually getting it right though based on everything I've seen lately.

The Boston Red Sox play an intro song for every one of their batters when they walk up to the plate. Shane Victorino chose Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.

"Don't worry about a thing, Cause every little thing gonna be all right..."

They crowd don't sing loudly to all of them, just this one which shows the importance of song choice. Every single supporter chimes in for one line "Cause every little thing gonna be all right".

I sent this to Tex late last year and he loved it - "like the idea big fella.. Come up with some ideas for 2014!!!". I think he was actually at one of the world series games when they did this.

When you're watching it on TV you can't even hear the music playing so all of a sudden you just hear this deafening noise. It must be pretty intimidating for the pitcher of the opposing team.

I'd like to see the same thing happen coming back from an add break (song playing during the break and have it cut out right before the bounce so technically there is no music playing) and all you hear is this massive roar of whatever lines we'd be yelling.

I find that a lot of people don't like getting creative with what they scream out at the footy. Myself included. What the hell do I yell... "Go Team. Marry me Paddy." or just the usual "YEAAAH, BALL, AD-EL-AIDE.....". Following lyrics is something anyone can do and if they're actually organising this it's possible to make something like this take off.

But it can't be done at every adbreak, maybe only when we're down, or maybe when we want to maintain momentum. The song is absolutely KEY though. If it's garbage nobody will do it. Must be a timeless song and somehow relevant. Eg. Not Dangerzone from the Top Gun soundtrack!

EDIT: Another video from the crowds perspective:
