$1M Punt on Lohnro

Sportsbet have taken a $1 million bet on Lohnro to win the Australian Cup at $1.55. I imagine its the same bloke who has had minimum $200,000 on each of his last 10-12 starts. Jeez, I feel nervous having him 1 out in a quaddie!

How would you feel having $1mil on a horse? Any number of things could happen on monday, meaning Lonhro wont win! I feel the same as you Pedro, i feel nervous having him one out in the quaddie let alone $1mil on him

Absolutely insane betting that much, but even more insane putting it down 4 days before the race! Anything can happen in racing, and I'd imagine it'd be a no refund bet, which is just ridiculous. Lonhro's price on the day wouldn't be any worse than it is now, so I'm struggling to see the logic in backing him on a friday when the race is on monday.

Fortune favours the brave I suppose! Wouldn't have been feeling too good about it at the 250m mark. What a huge effort though. Lohnro was checked and boxed in, didn't get out until after the 200. Amazing run.

According to the tv coverage Lonhro was paying $2 for a brief period in the ring. The bloke did himself out of nearly half a million big ones, although I don't think he'd be that shattered

Looks like I did pretty bad as well.

After seeing Lonhro jump at $1.10 a fortnight ago, I pledged that I'd put $100 on him if he jumped for the cup at better than $1.50.

On Friday at the TAB, he was at fixed odds $1.60, and out came the wallet.

It shortened to $1.55 on Saturday, and I was rapt.

The bloke with the alleged $1m wouldnt have found a bookmaker to lay him the $2. someone may have let him on for half that and then quickly layed off forcing the price down before the punter could get the other half on.
