Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

I think I'll wait for our medical team to look at Gibbs instead of Dr Larkins who would'nt even of looked at him, seriously how could he possibly know

He gave reasons as to why he thought that. But still, i would prefer to listen to his opinion rather than listen to SEN's who said 'Gibbs will definitely be out for 1-2 weeks'

Of course, as you said, I will also wait to see what our doctors say but Doc Larkins' opinion is the best we have to go by for now.

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

In: Hampson
Out: Joseph (with Carazzo having sole tagging duties).

I hope that Kruezer will be back, but from what I hear it's unlikely.

Blues by 6 goals.

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

There is only one ruckman in Australia who is faster and has a bigger leap than Nic Natanui....

…and the good news is he plays for the famous Navy Blue and is ready to go. It’s time to unleash.

:)

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

It's going to take a huge effort to beat them over at Subi, but at least we will have more room to work in compared to the game at Etihad.

Out: Joseph, Ellard, Davies

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

We are a big chance against the Eagles. It will be mighty tough travelling there with effective only a 5 day break but I think we are better placed to match it with them this time than we were at Etihad in the middle of the year.

We def need to bring Hammer in, can't rely on Setanta as the second ruck option against NicNat and Cox.

The best part about this game is that the pressure valve has been slightly released and we can go over there with a nothing to lose attitude. We will have some great support over there and most people will be expecting the Eagles to win.

Can't wait!

Yep Hampson

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Last time round, we went in with:
- a debutant (O'Keefe)
- a KPD playing his first and only game in two seasons (Austin)
- a guy playing his second game in a season (Houlihan)
- a ruckman who hadn't played in 6 weeks (Warnock)
- our other ruckman playing his 3rd game in a year (Kreuzer)
- an Irishman in his fourth game of footy (Tuohy)
- our best KPP playing just the one quarter (Jamison)
- our 2nd best KPD playing his 3rd game at AFL level in 3 months, up forward (Henderson)

No duigan or laidler either. In a presser Ratten spoke about the boys going thru a tuff conditioning plan during that game and the players were tired and not %100!!!

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Correct, assuming Gibbs is fine to play next week and Laidler doesn't get rubbed out (didn't see incident?), then only change I'd make is Hampson for Davies.

That leaves us with Jamo, Hendo, Setanta, Warnock, Hampson and Thornton as our talls.

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Hammer to come in, Zak if Laids has a case to answer. KL for Gibbs?

yeh or JR for Gibbs........

What happened with Jobe;s schnozz .. Carrots in trouble?

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

i said pre saints dropping tbird and ellard could only be to rest them
2 integral reasons why we are where we are

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Struggle to see Kreuzer fitting into that side. Warnock as number 1 ruck and a part time ruckman who can double as a forward and had an impact made a massive difference to our side. Something I've mentoned many times before.

I really can't see any changes. Maybe just one. Hampson kicked six goals in the VFL and I don't think Kreuzer has warranted a game. Probably Davies is the only player who you would consider dropping as the rest were all good. The sub must be a player who has the ability to run. Not real keen on the idea of having Hampson or Kreuzer as a sub or having Two genuine non-forward ruckmen again. I still don't rate Kreuzer, Warnock and Hampson as forwards although 6 goals was a good effort but there's a fair difference between playing a top 4 AFL side in finals and VFL.

Just because Paterson's Stadium is WCE's home ground doesn't mean that it suites them better than us. In fact I'm looking forward to it and hope we can play like we did against Freo. The wide open spaces really suites us as good as any side.

The challenge is going to be stopping the three tall towers up forward and beating them in the contested footy. Priddis, Kerr, Masten, The Selwoods and Hurn all love playing contested footy and are tough to beat. The exact opposite to Essondon's midfield. They will be a real test for our midfield and we will have to play with that intensity again.
Cox/Naitanui, Lynch and Kennedy are real problems for us in the air. Makes me think that Bower should come in for Davies as the wide open spaces would suit Bower and we need that extra tall down back.

Get through this game and the guys like Carrazzo, Bower, Jamison, Kreuzer, Waite and Hampson who have missed a lot of footy all have a chance make an impact for us or more of an impact. Get through this week and we would be one step closer to our best form this season and we are back in a chance to win an unlikely flag.

it IS Subiaco oval ffs

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

We are going to need lots of pace and hard bodies who have a real crack. AJ and Armfield are going now here. Doubt any ruckmen will come in. Can't see Hampson being fit enough, let alont to play ruck on a massive ground. Doesn't fit in with our structure at all, you would have to drop O'hAilpin for him which is not going to happen.

Winning the ruck was a big part of beating Essendon. Going to be a massive challenge in this area, they truely have the advantage with two ruckmen who are good in the tap work and good around the ground and up forward.

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Eagles supporters are as cocky as ****, god I can't wait to show them we are a lot better side to the one they played at ethiad earlier this year.
Come on blueboys you can do it ;)

Not all of us

Yeah I think we got you at the right time Mid year
But this game will be a lot closer. I think we are better in the front and back half but the Carlton Midfield is our big worry. If Kerr plays I think where Home
But Judd has been quiet for a while, he is due for a big game. As a WC supporter I know what this guy can do. Trust me he won't be tagged out by Selwood in this game :thumbsu:

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

West Coast did get us at the right time earlier in the year, and payback could be a real bitch. What we must do is get our team selections right this week. Hammer kicked 6, and could come in. Like the idea of him playing as a taller forward and second ruckman. Also allows Carlos to stay in the forward line as well. And it gives us some real flexibility with our talls.

We also need to put a heap of pressure on their young mids - Gaff, Ebert, S.Selwood and Masten. They've been a big reason why they have improved so much, and with the depth we have in our midfield, we should be at least able to break even with them.

The good thing is that no-one will really think we can beat West Coast over there, so we can go over there and have a real red hot go. All the pressure will be in them.

...and he'll be able to get a couple of uninterupted nights sleep in Perth as well.

 :D
