Wonderful win. But went to sleep at the end. We were not supposed to win this game let's be honest. But we did. I want to give a shout out to Jack Buller. This bloke works so effing hard. He is all about TEAM. Good an Ya Jack. Bloody good game. You brought so many others into the game and beat Harris-Andrews the best KD in the game.

The more I see of the other teams the more I think we'll be ok in the long term. The top teams right now are very meh, Adelaide looks good but has little finals experience, so we'll see about them soon. The rest all look very shaky and inconsistent themselves at times. The standard of the top teams right now isn't what it used to be pre-covid, there's work to do, but it doesn't seem like as much ground to make up on the best as it once may have been for a 10th placed side.

We've got so many below their best this year as well as missing key players, especially forward. McDonald & Amartey are bigger loses than what seems to be acknowledged. Literally a couple of smart trades and better injury run away from catching back up to the comp....whether those 2 things happen, who knows. Unless you're in the bottom 4 and an absolute mess of a club it's never as bad or good as it seems.
Yeah but there’s always effing Geelong. And there’s always effing Hawthorn.

Just a by product of not having a forward line to kick to
Yep, if we can get any three of McDonald, McLean, Amartey - and probably now Buller - on the paddock for a sustained run of games, I don’t think all our issues will go away but we’d sure look more like the team we know we can be, and kicking some decent scores.

100%. Always looking to hand off to a player if he is out of position shooting for goal. Competes hard and to me is a footballer.. he know when to lead up and where to run.

Harris Andrews had 20 disposals and took 11 marks. Buller is doing an admirable job but I don't think he won that battle

He played well in a position we don’t have great depth in. Hoping he gets one more year.

Would be a great reserves player at the very least.
He's borderline best 22 in a fully fit backline but we may not have that luxury next year so I'm happy for him to play on

Agree on Rampe, was important late again, he is not staggering to the finish line as such. A one year deal makes sense, worst case he can help provide leadership for the 2’s.

Importantly he is still best 22 and has been solid, mostly beating his man, less intercepting and spoiling than we have seen in the past though.

Yeah he's definitely lost a touch of pace and agility which is impacting his game but I think his high footy IQ has extended his career.

Just hope whenever he goes out it's on his own terms. He's a special player.

Also credit to Dean Cox, he has Outcoached Fagan yesterday. Our run and gun in first half was brilliant, able to get deeper forward entries with separation from their defence. Really set the tone and we also responded well to the inevitable momentum swings, increase in pressure, etc.

Full preseason, better run with injuries and 1-2 decent trades, some additional academy talent, reckon season 2026 looks bright.

It was a very different Swans.

Seemed like we were very mindful of not turning the ball over in our own forward half, often looking for the extra handball and waiting for a solid option before kicking which is good coaching.

We had some of the best handball chains I've seen from a swans team in a long time yesterday.

I think with a decent forward line to kick to we actually would have given them a real touch up. Obviously they were missing a few players too though.

then just announce it this week

The handball chains were soo good, loved the run n carry in waves. More of it pls.
There are hints of where Cox is taking the team. I liked that we had both handball chains and smooth kicking skills on display.

I’m hoping he can help the team find the balance between attack/spread and defence/constrain, and when in attack between handball and kick.

We can't seem to breach the 100point mark which is annoying. We've only done it once this season.
I would be more concerned if our kicking accuracy wasn’t so poor. I haven’t seen it, but I reckon out expected scores would have passed 100 a few times this year.

I think (hope) our goal kicking accuracy will return with greater confidence. Some players also need to make it a big priority over the offseason.

I understand the concern.

You would hope you could take it as all but guaranteed that Rampe will be offered an extension if his retirement is not announced this week. I imagine the reason why they wouldn’t announce the extension is that they would need to fit Rampe’s contract around others that are yet to land.

If they don’t plan to extend, then it would be very bad form (unless of course Rampe doesn’t want it announced, which is his call). The marketing department may also want a meeting with the list management team!

The movement started when Mills just went bang up the corridor to Heeney from the kick-in was beautiful. There was some of that last year so perhaps that was Cox's influence.

Either way, would love to see more of it.

Good to see Harry Cunningham and Charlie Cameron hanging out this morning.

Had a good feeling about this game going into it, purely because I backed our back 7 in their match ups. I know there’s question marks on Rampe next season and whether Mills is more of a midfielder, but I think it’s the right mix at the moment.

Heeney was so good. Sheldrick was so good.

Shame about McInerney. Hopefully Grundy will be all good, because he dominated Geelong last season and I expect him to do so again next week, giving us the first use inside.

Lewis Melican has slowly morphed into another Heath Grundy. I thought he's been outstanding this last few weeks and has become so reliable.
Absolutely. Spoils, takes intercept marks and his disposal is so reliable. Haven't seen the stats but he would have to go close to 100% by foot. An under appreciated aspect to his play is that he can go to medium forwards too. There wouldn't be too many I'd swap him for.
