Hi Board!

I'm back. Its been a long 2 weeks. A painfull 2 weeks listening to some of the dribble on the boards (and the main board). I admit i haven't been on here a lot, but from what i have seen has been incredible.

2 weeks ago after our loss to the pies people were calling for baileys head, calling for half the team to be dropped.. Now people are calling Bailey a master and trying to pick 3 team members to delist/trade/'rookie' (which could i just point out only works if every other team passes on the player delisted we have the intention to redraft - so please stop suggesting it - you cant just PUT players on the rookie list)

2 weeks ago Tom Scully was gone for all money, people were calling him a traitor, a money hungry scumbag, now to my amazement there is a poll thread where most people think he will stay, calling him 'professional' and that he'll 'definitely stay' .. Outrageous!

2 weeks ago people were damning us to the bottom four.. Now people are talking up finals.. staying we are a 50-50 chance against the WCE and WB at etihad.. i for one will be making a quid on the bulldogs this week.

So what has really happened in 2 weeks? Not much, we beat up on another injury ravaged interstate team at the MCG and just beat a team that is 2 years behind us in development..

We are a short minded group aren't we??

I'll get excited when we win a game away from the MCG or a game against a top 8 side. The rest of you can continue living in your fantasy land...

Ciao

It was a great two weeks, because you weren't here.

Can I ask that if you want to respond to BS (no pun tended) then focus on the points he raised, as colourful & constructive as they may be.

Otherwise I'll just close the thread if it starts to spiral downwards. It hasn't started well.

I agree with the OP to an extent. Freo at the G with 13 players missing isn't an amazing scalp no matter tha margin, and tho I'm stoked to beat them the Tiges should be a game we win easily. Im sure the current wave of optimism will evaporate quick smart if our Etihad hoodoo continues...

yes 2 weeks is a long time ...but so what if we get carried away and wear our heart on our sleeves from time to time.

Supporters...we are all passionate, we all say our two bobs worth, we agree to disagree...but thats why we follow this great game.

We may get pumped or thrashed one week...but we as supporters always turn up the next . Don't you love it !

I can't think of a better game in the world, and thats why AFL IS Number One!

Go The Dees. See you all at Etihad Friday night.

Mate, dont close the thread i have made valid points, and i would like to return here when (unfortunately) the bulldogs give us a reality check on friday night:thumbsd:.
In the unlikely event that we beat the racists down at Whitten Oval i will be here with bells on:thumbsu:.

Good to see some sense :thumbsu:

What makes you think your return from a ban warrants a whole F'ing thread.

Me being back is just a sub topic to a much larger issue

The rest of it, tl;dr

2 weeks isnt long enough. :thumbsd::thumbsd:

I'd still be happier if we had a new coach next season, because I don't think Bailey has the tactical nous to take us forward. That said, he's been far more proactive and tried a bit in recent months.

Agree wholeheartedly with the re-rookieing (sp?). To those hoping to re-rookie 3 players or more... no. Just no. It works for players like Tom Mac who haven't done anything, not players like Maric and Wonna who we want to keep around just incase they come good. Other teams will back themselves to MAKE them come good, and will snap them up. I'm thinking we'll have to be fairly proactive during trade week, and give up a few half-decent players in order to make some room and get some more good young talent.

2 weeks ago Tom Scully was gone for all money, people were calling him a traitor, a money hungry scumbag, now to my amazement there is a poll thread where most people think he will stay, calling him 'professional' and that he'll 'definitely stay' .. Outrageous!

I think there was a very vocal minority asserting that he was gone and anyone who thought otherwise was a fool. There were a few that found the goodness in their heart and the rose tint to their glasses to be sure he would stay. Then there was the vast majority that hope we will stay but fear he will leave and havent the foggiest which way it will go. I think you're seeing most of them voting for the light-side in the poll with nothing more than hope, and fair enough, because anyone who says they KNOW he's staying or going is a liar.

A week is a long time in footy. Twice a long time is practically forever. Anyone who damned us to the bottom four 2 weeks ago was seriously pessimistic. We are not a worse team than Port, the Suns, Brisbane. We're unlikely to finish lower than Adelaide, Saints or Bulldogs unless we play like toilets every week for the rest of the season, rather than every second week. Finals, well, it'd be fantastic if we get there, but not terribly disapointing if we don't. I don't know if, before the season started, we were on too many top 8 lists, and most of us would probably have been happy with 10 wins. Let's see how we go.

Was wondering when you'd rear your ugly head (figuratively), get out of here, you stink of failure and defeat.

However its ok that you didnt read the thread, it wasnt directed at you, you're normally pretty down to earth when it comes to all the hype that generally surrounds this board.

To be honest, i kind of like you, i see you as a better version of the younger, less popular brother i already have.

Stay strong my young apprentice, be brave, clenched fist.

Scoreline in the Richmond game was much closer than it should have been, that was a 50pt win if we took some of our many makeable chances in the 3/4

It's more about the way we play/ed hunger, forward pressure, work rate, tackling and getting that week in week out that's got people positive and excited.

Have a look at the thread 'Our friend, the Draw' BS, posted 29 May when we were 3 wins, 5 losses and a draw.

I like how you have got off on the front foot though, no point just hanging around waiting for one with your name on it ;-)

The last 2 weeks had been pretty peaceful with out BS and his rubbish.
The last few days has been even better since his other alias 'Tap My Scott' was also carded.

Looks like the holidays are over guys and we are back to reality with a 15 year old, self indulgent Richmond supporter constantly trolling our boards as a Melbourne supporter.

2 weeks is a long time. A lot of Melbourne supporters I know kept their heads, a lot lost their heads.

The reality is, we've been beaten badly by Collingwood, Carlton and West Coast, all proving to be top 4 sides

We'll rue losses to North and St Kilda

But I see the change in attitude in the last 3 weeks as 3 emphatic wins

A massive win against Essendon on the big stage; a Crushing win against Freo (injuries aside, we put them to the sword from the start to finish) and a huge win against a team many picked to out class and out muscle us.

Despite the scoreline, we dominated them, and kept their young guns quiet.

There's been more commitment on field from the players in the last 2 weeks and more cohesion.

It's clear to me Bailey can coach, it's becoming clearer to me the players can play to his plan

Once this core has 70 - 80 games under their belt as a group, we will be a force

this is the game that will separate apart from the pack. we need to win a game away from the mcg against a top 8 team (even tho the bulldogs are in horrible form).

remember we played st kilda into form..

Agree, these are the games we SHOULD win, but ultimately we often lose

It's time to stamp our intentions, beat the Etihad hoodoo and win one that we should win
