I was only joking but he needs to be on the trade table if we are serious about the direction of this club. He is so ****ing soft, its painful to watch. No wonder we cant bully other teams, and always get bullied, because we have soft**** players like himThis is the idiocy that comes when you open the door Kong. Be better.

No, people need to stop throwing the baby out with the bath water when a good player has an average year.I was only joking but he needs to be on the trade table if we are serious about the direction of this club. I presume you set that timeframe so I wouldn't include his 7 against the Dogs?In all honesty though Eth. can you name his 10 most dominate games in the past 3 years?
I just looked at his Essendon games, and he averages 4.8 marks a game and 1.7 goals. No, people need to stop throwing the baby out with the bath water when a good player has an average year.

22: Rounds 3 (kicked 4 on Steven May), 4 (3 goals and 9 marks against Adelaide), 7 (4 against Dogs), 8 (6 goals, 8 marks vs Hawks), 14/15 (4 goals and 8 marks in each), 17 (5 goals, 8 marks on Harris Andrews)
23: Rounds 13 (5 against Carlton), 17 (3 goals, 8 marks against Adelaide), 20 (4 goals, 8 marks against Sydney)
He hasn't dominated but that shouldn't mean we just turf him.
I'm not saying we accept him as the number 1 option. I'm saying he's a good player that isn't a number 1 forward.I just looked at his Essendon games, and he averages 4.8 marks a game and 1.7 goals.
This is our forward we build around, a guy who takes just over 1 mark a quarter and kicks just over 1 goal a game.
I'm not saying we turf him for nothing, but to just accept it and not look into better options is crazy.
Also, I think you are looking at his outlier season when he did play well, I really believe he is an average player that had a good season.
All players bar Merrett, Caddy, Durham, and Ridley (just) should be on the trade table to see what we can obtain. We HAVE TO find a way to get value in list management. It doesn’t mean we want to ‘get rid’ of Wright. He should still be seen as a key cog going forward and a juicy offer would need to arise for a trade. But it would be foolhardy not to have him and most other players on the table at the end of this season.I was only joking but he needs to be on the trade table if we are serious about the direction of this club. No. I think he holds more value. I know I'm his biggest fan but he's a good forward/ruck.You wouldn't trade him if the club were offered a decent small forward, a small defender with pace and skills, or a pick in the 30s?
Wright’s accuracy alone is enough to remain bullish. I’m a big believer that if we’ve got the forward delivery sorted then he’ll gain confidence enough to be a massive headache for any defence. He’ll never be a game-turner when things are down. That’s what we’ve got Caddy for.No. I think he holds more value. I know I'm his biggest fan but he's a good forward/ruck.
I think Wright - and the FWD / RUC role in general - is a bit misunderstood.
Yes, he's 2m tall. Yes, he's a beautiful kick for goal. No, he's not a KPF you build your forward line around. No, he can't really play in a side with two other ruckmen.
In 2021 (his first season with us) he played FWD / RUC. Averaging ~ 1.4 goals, 11 disposals, 4 marks and 9.8 hitouts.
In 2022 he played pretty much as a FF. Averaging 2.4 goals, 11 disposals, 5 marks and 3.1 hitouts.
In 2023 he played 10 games and got injured for 1.9 goals, 10 disposals, 4 marks and 2.5 hitouts. Same role as 2022 really.
In 2024 he's been played a bit of both, averaging 1.4 goals, 11 disposals, 4 marks, and 8.5 hitouts.
yesplease?
So what your saying is he’s good for about 5 marks a game and if he takes them close to goal he’ll get you 2 goals a game (which is about 50 goals for the season) while forcing the oppos beat tall defender to play on him.
Sign me up sounds great
Sounds like a good no2/3 option.
Has had 1 good year out of ten. It’s painfully apparent watching live but he simply has to ****ing play, he’s clearly got some mental demons that that he has to sort that probably stem from the club completely disowning him after he collided with whatshisface but he has to do that in the seniors.
You cannot have Draper who is inherently unpredictable and Caddy who is still learning the trade and his patterns need a fair bit of work as your two key forwards. How the hell are the forwards and mids meant to deliver inside 50 if Draper doesn’t know where he’s leading to or whether he’s going to mark it, spike it forward or fly kick it and Caddy is just going to fly for anything even if it’s not his to fly for?
Wright is a predictable target that leads to high percentage spots, he’s easy to kick to, even if he’s not marking it.
The opposition have worked out that Langford is the most dangerous man and the attention is going there because they don’t need to worry about the first two at all really. Hurting his output as well.
Onus is on Brad and the coaches to support him through this and get him right, not chuck him to the curb. Yet more Scott nonsense, utter ****ing nonsense.
