I know how you feel.

I had only just hit my 20s and was heavily into the nightclub lifestyle at the time so footy during that period took a backseat. Looking back now I regret it because I just took it all for granted and never really appreciated 97 and 98 because I thought there would be more coming.

20 years on and like you, I am desperate to experience it again and now being in my 40s I actually want us to win something while I am still young enough to actually enjoy and cherish it this time.
last year, I had $500 in my wallet at the GF, I was ready to go nuts and paint the town

alas, a trip home shortly after the conclusion of the game, and an early night was had. Punchy Bassett will tell you it was very sombre in my apartment - like we were all thinking what the **** just happened??

Hahaha funny campaigner

I nearly died that day. It was a close run thing

On topic

Norf choked. We were the best side they played in that era. Carey kicked 5 points. Had he kicked straight he would of been best on ground

Ricciitto was crap. Our best mid for two seasons and choked in the most important game he would play

Sound familiar?

McLeod had so many score involvements in the second half that would of meant nothing had it not been for the work of Ben hart in the first half

I rate fud better than ablett. Ablett was a winger who ended up at ff. Fud played in two granny's at ff and owned both of them. Something ablett could never do. They tried saying fud went missing in big games.

Sad about modra

There's no doubt that the 2 goals 11 that North kicked in the 2nd quarter was what killed them.

We were smashed in that 2nd quarter and should have been 8-10 goals down at half time, but they wasted their chance and like the old saying goes, bad kicking is bad football.

Much the same as the lesson we learnt last year, being the best side of the year doesn't guarantee you a flag.

i think most of us on here recognise that AFC should be an absolute powerhouse in the competition up there with WC imo, but unfortunately it hasnt happened.

I blame Self interest at board level, and as feenix67 mentioned in his podcast, we only really looked like a ruthless and potentially successful club when Blighty and Walshy came into the club and shook the joint.

Next year Carlton had equal scoring shots to norf. Lost by similar amount. But the game remembered very differently

This team should have at least one more flag added. I still think 2005 was our best team ever but unfortunately that bad QF ruined that season, captain out did not help. I think we were pretty good in 2016 too, probably a bit better than 2017 but finishing 5th will always be an unforgotten nightmare. In 2018 injuries mounted plus the lack of spirit at times, it was a task too daunting to finish high on the ladder. At least for me I saw 1997 and 1998 in my lifetime and enjoyed every bit of it because this day may not come again, hope I am wrong.

Watched both GF’s at the Lae yacht club in PNG. In 97 I’d been working in the highlands with no internet, no tv for a few months and arrived in town 2 days beforehand. Didn’t even know when I came down that Adelaide had made it. Damn, they were both huge weekends

Yep that was shit, at least you didn't have the ten hour drive back to Adelaide the next day. 1997 I was at the game will never forget it, 1998 I was on holiday in Phuket and watched it ABC's Asian channel remember walking around Patong Beach afterwards with my crows top on and heaps of West Aussies were coming up giving high fives they loved it as well!

Three moments since have come close to a Crows flag, the 2014 Norwood premiership, this one was my special one of the three in a row, were never meant to win it, beat Port by a point went absolutely nuts after it!

2006 World Cup game against Croatia getting through, was at the game in Germany got absolutely smashed afterwards, had to get a train back to Frankfurt that night as I flew out the next day, didn't get to bed until 430AM no idea how I got home the next day!

1999 Man U treble.

Last year burns a lot still.

Growing up a Crows fan in Melbourne was always tricky... especially at Primary School footy days, when you're the only one matching around the courtyard in your Guernsey.

I was 9/10 years old in the 97/98 GF years. I was lucky enough to be at the 97 Prelim and both Grand Finals (sitting behind the Punt Road goals in 97).

I definitely didnt appreciate fully it at the time and wish I could relive it.

I was at the game last year, and was the last one left sitting on the top level of the Great Southern Stand. Even had to listen to Jack Riewoldt ruin my favourite song.
