My dad and i, being devoted pie supporters, last night/ this morning stayed up till 1 oclock at night to watch the amazing game,,, one of collingwood's finest hours.

We listed somehting like 8-9 of the players playing in that game have since moved on from the club. They are:

Scott Cummings (yeh, he played that game), Heath Scotland, Mark McGough, Glenn Freeborn, Rupert Betheras, Carl Steinfort, Steven McKee, Nick Davis and another,,, someone please remind me.

Why i bring this up, is that these players, by noi means,, were rated in mike sheehans crap top 50/100 list, porb half wouldnt have ranked inside the top 150. B ut they took us to a granny. Why? They we desperate, and hungry for success. the group of the past 2 years has l;acked this desire seen in 2002-2003. Taz doesnt hit contests as hard as he did. our midfield gets smashed now, and our defence looks shaky. Its like they are out there to get paid. In 2002, they played coz they loved the club, and wanted success. Our list could perhaps be even a little better than the 2002 list. if we just get that same desperation into this years 2006 team, as did they 2002 team had, we'd finish top 4 easy. Watching that game, i saw players willing to do anythign for the jumper. now i dont. I believe thats where our problem lies.

Yes, I watched that game. I also went to it with my brother and got really drunk. It was good fun giving crap to the Scum supporters.

lol, i remember my dad commin back to our seats with chips and stuff with a footy record on his head, absolutley soping,a nd i remember seeing this chopper comming down and it was the biggest thing ive ever seen. Also the thign that moved me the most, was when they played the original tune from which the collingwood tune is taken from, in its exact, early 1900 version.

it crackled across the g in silence, as it played while footage of all the collingwood diggers who had passed away in the great wars was also playing on the big scoreboards. Itw as wet, it was dark, it tipified ANZAC Day to its penultimate.

Yeah, it was a brilliant day. I've been to a few ANZAC days, but that was the best one. I think the weather added to the day somehow.

I have said that before, i reckon it probably is. but also other teams lists are also much better than they were in 02. Perhaps the league is just playing at a higher standard at the moment?

Nah!! Think about what a crack team the Premiers Sydney are. Or minor premiers the Cows.

We were typical of a modern day competitive side. A few top shelf players playing at their peak and good support with a good ethic. A few too many duds, but all teams carry duds.

true, but if anything we definitly have more depth now, and probably a more even lineup, in the fact that we dont need to rely on one or two players as much anymore if we have a full lineup out there. It's hard to say though cause that hasnt happened in so long.

imagine if we had the injury run in 02 that we had in 04/05? We barely wouldve won a game.

watched both 01-02 games recently, but dimma played in one of them!!!

tazza kicking goals from outside 50, hope his knee clears itself up!!

mark richardson playing CHF whilst rocca warmed the bench!!!!

o'bree & lockyer dominating

gee we have gone backwards since then

I had come to keep my eyes on Mark McGough because of his outstanding debut the week before against the Hawks...gee, was I happy.

Wasn't it J Cloke? (running back against the play courageously)

Thought I'd ask anyone that was at the game, was Buckleys shot at goal from 50 in or did it indeed scrape the post? Because I still remember the feeling of getting so pumped up when he threw his arms up, it was unbelieveable!!

Personally, i think im 1 anzac day loss away from officially boycotting the event. I dont think i can watch many more collignwood losses to essendon.

The 2002 team was a special team and i belive if rocca's goal in the grand final was paid a goal then things have ended up different. Fact is in 02, 03 we had a very good run with injuries, Bucks, Burns, Licca, Rocca, Taz where all playing very very well and everyone was putting in 100%. 04/05 we have been dogged with injuries exposing players that where not giving enough game time earlier on because of the full squad that was playing well. we will back back...dont worry about that!!!

agreed.. thats exactly how it is and thats why i get bagged so much on here. I see the same potential in this years list as i did in '02 - '03, we just need the right mixture of luck and run with injuries
