I tried it last year so why not again.

This is who i hope will kick our goals this year and how many - this is obviously a best possible situation as if they all kick the amounts I have list we will average 20 a game which ain't gunna happen.

Maybe each should make this their personal aim (it also assumes they they will probably play more than they will).

Richo 72
Petts 34
Staff 30
Bling 27
Hyde 25
Browny 25
Tucky 21
P Bowds 20
Krak 20
Tivs 16
Jay 15
Foley 15
Lids 15
Cogs 15
Rodan 13
Troy 12
Newman 12
Johnson 10
Hall 10
Cleve 10
Jackson 10
Bowden 8
Meyer 8
Patto 6

If any of the rest kick a goal it will be a bonus.

Thoughts??

Thats a good effort!

The annoying part would be waiting until the end of the season to see how close you came. :(

I'd be aiming for 40 goals from both Krakeour and Pettifer. That's still not even 2 goals a game.

That would be good, but a side that has three players who kick more that 40 goals in a season generally is a top 4 side - don't think we are there yet.

Peejay that is an average of 20.4 goals per game. So you see many victories and high percentage. I like your optimism

Well i did say best case scenario.

I think best case for us is sixth with 13 wins. I think 8 - 10th is more like it though.

I read what you are saying in terms of targets. The reality is you'd like a team to have 6-7 players getting > 20 goals, 1-2 > 35 goals, and 1 > 50 goals. We are nowhere near that.

Richo 72 <- 3.5 goals a game - Love it, hope, but would be a great season
Staff 30 <- hmm, if he plays 22 games and plays forward pocket, should aim for 40.
Bling 27 <- Too much, even from a pocket. 15.
Hyde 25 <- too much - doesn't get forward. 15
Browny 25 <- Low expectation based on his leg.
Tucky 21 <- Fair, given he rests in the forward line.
P Bowds 20 <- Wishful thinking although gettable if he plays 22 games.
Krak 20 <- Should be aiming for 30.
Tivs 16 <- Which Tivs? The one with the yips? 10.
Jay 15 <- Not if he plays down back. 5.
Foley 15 <- wishful thinking. More likely to be atthe bottom of the pack - 7.
Rodan 13 <- Fair, especially if he plays HFF/FP
Troy 12 <- How much resting down the forward line? Or a kick behind play? 7
Johnson 10 <- Off the HBF? probably fair.
Cleve 10 <- Nope. 0. Lucky to get game time.
Jackson 10 <- If he ends up being a small FF, maybe more?
Bowden 8 <- Yep, streaming through the centre, kicking them from 50 out :)
Meyer 8 <- See Cleve. Love to see him but not this year.
Patto 6 <- Will get game time (subject to injuries, but not enough to kick 6.)

You've missed the obligatory Kellaway and Gas goal.... :D

I think Brown is going to play a lot closer to goal this season. he won't be a 20ppg player, but 50+ goals is a possibility

That would be a sensational return. Have to remember though that he has played as a defacto FF for the doggies, and from memory got high 40's/low 50's - and my memory says about 1 for 1 points and goals.

I can't see him doing the same in a team with a designated FF (albeit oen who plays like a HFF). On top of this is the focus on kicking it to the aforementioned FF.

I'm thinking there will be games when he gets less then 10 possesions and goes goal less. He could be subject to a bit of the 2004 Gaspar style horrors - he will still get the teams number one medium defender on him.

The reality is that we need him out there - threatening, even if he doesn't score goals. That way Pets has medium defender #2, B2 has defender #3. Brown might not score 50, but maybe Pets and B2 can step up playing on less accomplished defenders.

Brown had our highest goals per game average last year.

Code:
2005 League Goals Per Game Leaders

1 Fraser Gehrig St Kilda 22 4 v Sydney, Preliminary Final 3.55
2 Nathan G. Brown Richmond 10 2 v Melbourne, Round 10 [B]3.40[/B]
3 Mark Williams Hawthorn 19 0 v Brisbane, Round 19 3.32
4 Russell Robertson Melbourne 23 4 v Geelong, Elimination Final 3.17
5 Barry Hall Sydney 26 2 v West Coast, Grand Final 3.08
6 Matthew Richardson Richmond 22 2 v Geelong, Round 22 [B]2.95[/B]

3.4 x 22 = 75 goals.

:)

Yes of course the AK and Gas goals.

I really think Hyde will kick more goals this year - i see him as part of wallace's running goalkicker brigade.

I reckon theres Limbach, Lids and other debutants that play forward may get goals if there good enough and Big ray Hall always chips in every year with a few goals

i have to strongly disagree with most of your points, cleve based on form should get game time.. likewise meyer, patto will get alot of game time this year imoand should kick 15-16 goals...jay will be CHB but will always get stints in the forward line and could possiblly get 20 odd if lucky...browny is playing awesome footy equal to if not better then how he played his first season with us 40-45 from him...troy last year kicked most of goals when he was in the ruck tends to have more confidence in his own abilitys when playing there should kick a few this year

Thought I'd dig up this time capsule. I've left the disclaimer at the top and also note peejay said it was best case scenario. He said realistically we'd finish 8th-10th.

Maybe each should make this their personal aim (it also assumes they they will probably play more than they will).

Richo 72 (45) - (due to late purple patch)
Petts 34 (31) - (great effort to pick his improvement and overall position)
Staff 30 (15) - didn't play enough
Bling 27 (14)
Hyde 25 (13)
Browny 25 (11)
Tucky 21 (11)
P Bowds 20 (14) - Not bad given at prediciton time we all thought he'd line up on the HFF.
Krak 20 (19) - Great effort!
Tivs 16 (12)
Jay 15 (16) - Good get, again we all thought he'd play CHB
Foley 15 (3)
Lids 15 (5)
Cogs 15 (3 - injured)
Rodan 13 (donut)
Troy 12 (25)
Newman 12 (1 - injured)
Johnson 10 (5 - played more defensively then expected)
Hall 10 (donut)
Cleve 10 (3)
Jackson 10 (4)
Bowden 8 (3)
Meyer 8 (4)
Patto 6 (3)

If any of the rest kick a goal it will be a bonus.
General comment - overall very optimistic - with most players coming in about 50% of the total.

Patto 6 <- Will get game time (subject to injuries, but not enough to kick 6.) (3)

You've missed the obligatory Kellaway and Gas goal.... (4 & 0)

There are some interesting quotes in the thread about a potential horror year for Brown (vs other talking him up as a 50+ goal kicker in sensational form)

Oh - for reference our full goalkicking list is here
