Just so no confusion of what this thread is about, back in 2006 the age rules were a little different so the pool in the actual year of 2006 for AFL was not actually of guys born for same year like they do now of limit it to no younger than 18. Those still 17 at end of year could still be eligible back then but not now.
Some were turning 18 early the next year back then and so on. So the actual AFL draft pool of 2006 is not the same as this. Many would have been in that real draft though.

All these guys were born in 1988 so in a retro draft of guys turning 18 in 2006 this is what a retro pool to draft from could have looked like:

I should clarify the Josh Kennedy born for this retro draft pool is the midfielder that started out at Hawks and ended up a gun Swan.
The Eagles Josh Kennedy was in retro draft of the year before in this series.
Be hard pressed to be picked ahead of Selwood, Pendlebury or Gray as the cream of this crop.
I think this is a typical draft pool of about 3 absolute guns at top and a number of really good players for top 10 but pick 7 or 8 probably worth nothing like the first few picks.

Compare to super drafts of last year where almost whole top ten could be argued a worthy number 1 pick in most years.
