1. (Carlton) Matthew Kreuzer - still need a big man with so many smalls
2. (Richmond) Trent Cotchin - suits them a little better than Danger
3. (West Coast) Patrick Dangerfield - best available
4. (Melbourne) Cyril Rioli - best available
5. (Dogs) Lachlan Henderson - needs
6. (Essendon) Scott Selwood - best available mid
7. (Fremantle) Jack Grimes
8. (Brisbane) Jack Steven
9. (St. Kilda) Shane Mumford
10. (Adelaide) Brad Ebert
11. (Sydney) Ben McEvoy
12. (Hawthorn) Harry Taylor
13. (West Coast) Chris Masten
14. (Melbourne) Dennis Armfield
15. (North Melbourne) Scott Thompson
16. (Port Adelaide) Rhys Palmer
17. (Geelong) Callan Ward

*If Taylor Walker was available to Carlton I would put him in at number one assuming Carlton end up with Warnock in the ruck. Most players would just slip one spot down as Richmond would have to pick Kreuzer in the absence of Ivan Maric.

I guess I'll have a go at one:

  1. Cotchin
  2. Dangerfield
  3. Kreuzer
  4. Taylor
  5. Rioli
  6. Mumford
  7. Selwood
  8. Grimes
  9. Henderson
  10. Ward
  11. Walker
  12. Ebert
  13. McEvoy
  14. Steven
  15. Thompson
  16. Masten
  17. Armfield

Hooker has played 19 games, he has no exposed form per sè
Huh?
He's played 57. Pears 54. Bellchambers 36.

So far this year, Hooker's broken even with Cloke, stopped Petrie, stopped Clark, stopped Jack, beaten Waite, killed Darling... averaging 6 marks & 17 touches from the last line - he's having a very, very solid year.

Pears is average at best. I said all along he was overrated. Most Essendon fans got upset at that and insisted he was an upcoming star though. More games he missed with injury the better prospect he became. They're now realising it.
That's a bit harsh.
He's definitely capable of playing good footy, but he just hasn't had any sort of a run at it since mid 2010. I hold out a fair bit of hope he'll become that rounded, smart 3rd up defender that he looked like becoming early days, but if he can't get a good run, he'll have next to no chance.

Did a knee vs Melbourne, probably won't see him again this year.

Sorry, misheard

This on talent and not on need
1. Patrick Dangerfield
2. Trent Cotchin
3. Cyril Rioli
4. Taylor Walker
5. Harry Taylor
6. Scott Selwood
7. Mattew Kruezer
8. Callan Ward
9. Brad Ebert
10. McEvoy

Dangerfield slightly ahead of Cotchin as he is more dynamic and a greater ability to win games and raise people around him than Cotchin. He is also more capable of kicking bigger bags of goals when put forward.
10.

Top ten leans more favourably to output on this one. The one I think may put a late charge in a few years is Henderson

1. Cotchin
2. Dangerfield
3. Mumford
4. Rance
5. Rioli
6. Walker
7. Taylor
8. Ward
9. Selwood
10. Hanley
Rance at 4?

Yep, really rate him. could shift him behind Walker or Taylor but seriously think he is a chance at being a premier defender by end of 13/14
Taylor is already a premier defender and Walker arguably a premier forward.

Never said they weren't hence could easily slide behind them. However it's my opinion that Rance should surpass them in 2013/2014 if he has the year uninjured. He's one of the players that I feel could really explode next year.

However I do fell people underrate his year this year as well

Do you really think a club would overlook Kreuzer or Cotchin for Walker?

We'd still have Kreuzer at one.

Ward is miles better than Steven and Armfield.

I'd rank Laidler ahead of Armfield.

he now has the residual base of 5 pre-seasons - And it is rare for players to do every session in pre-season training.

Of course its rare for players to complete every single training session in pre season. Cotchin had very restricted preseasons from 08, 09 and 10 doing 40-50% of what was expected because of his Achilles problem. The last two preseasons he has completed somewhere between 60-70% from what i've heard they hope this season he will complete 80-90%

Slattery's right. Hooker is limited, but you can be certain his man is not going to kick a bag on you. Pears is good offensively, but you have to stop your man first. Ebert has a fantastic year, prob just outside the tip 10

So the 5 goals and 16 marks Cloke took on him is not considered a bag? I am certain it is.

Clubs wouldn't overlook Cotchin for Walker unless they were dying for a key forward. Walker every day of the week and twice on sundays over Kreuzer though. Walker was AA this year and only played around 16 games or so. He was dominant.

I'll have a crack at the first round, going by what they've shown and a little weight on what I think we can expect for the future

1 - Cotchin
2 - Dangerfield
3 - Rioli
4 - Kreuzer
5 - Walker
6 - Ward
7 - Grimes
8 - McEvoy
9 - Reid
10 - Selwood
11 - Henderson
12 - Steven
13 - Thompson
14 - Rance
15 - Ebert
16 - Taylor
17 - Masten

It's ridiculous where some of these revisions have Harry Taylor. Sure, he got drafted at the "ripe old age" of 21, but you could make a case that he's so far been the best performed player of this draft. He's certainly been the most consistent IMO. Stepped right into the breach immediately to fill an AA's shoes (Egan) and immediately looked comfortable at the level. Has probably improved every year since. Been in AA contention for the last 3 years, including making AA in 2010. Genuinely could've won Norm Smith in 09. Is a dual Prem player, all whilst holding down a key position. Even drafted at 21 years, will likely give the Cats close to, or fully, a decade's service. Yet people have him in the teens, behind Eberts, Rances and Hendersons? I know who I'd rather have at 21 years, now and into the future. Opinions are one thing, but it's ludicrous to come to this type of revised assessment if you've watched footy since this draft.

Give it time and there's a solid chance you'll be saying David Myers was a good pick at Number 6 for the Dons.

re do the first round now we have seen them play and with clubs needs that we know

1. Carlton - Cyril Rioli - have to take him as he is the best from the draft and will be a great midfielder and forward for the blues

2. Richmond - Patrick Dangerfield - need quality mids and would take someone who is durable and hard to try and change their culture. cotchin too injured and they are worried about long term

3. West Coast - Trent Cotchin - know he will take time but happy to spend time down ladder and know he wull op well in their culture

4. Melbourne - Matthew Kruezer - need a ruckman and another forward so is perfect fit

5. Western bulldogs - - Jarraod Grant - still think he will be a solution to forward problems soon

6. Essendon - Tate Pears - key player for their future to take over from fletch

7. Fremantle - Rhys Palmer - need everything but stay with Palmer because they love him

8. Brisbane - Cale Morton - he is soft but he is a good mid for them to go with black and power

9. St Kilda - Callan Ward - they have most covered but he is just the type of footballer they love. they wish they got rioli

10. Adelaide - Jack Grimes - classy footballer who will follow craigs orders and execute game plan perfect

11. Sydney - David Myers - they love classy running backs and will think they can get the most out of him

12. Hawthorn - Scott Thompson - get a good full back that they need

13. West Coast - Lachlan henderson - add another tall that can develop with Kennedy

14. Melbourne - Chris masten - add a good classy midfielder to a very bare bunch

15. North melbourne - Brad Ebert - add the best midfielder available to a weak area

16. Port Adelaide - Patrick Vezpremi - get some chardness into their team and some classiness

17. Geelong - stay with harry Taylor to back up their defence
Oh dear.
