1. Cotchin (2)
2. Dangerfield (10)
3. Walker (75)
4. Rioli (12)
5. Kreuzer (1)
6. Selwood (22)
7. Mumford (rd 57)
8. Ward (19)
9. Henderson (8)
10. Rance (18)
11. McEvoy (9)
12. Bellchambers (psd 8)
13. Masten (3)
14. Taylor (17)
15. Grimes (14)
16. Ebert (13)
17. Whitecross (29)
18. Thompson (37)
19. Mayne (40)

I rank Thompson and Taylor lower because I think they benefit from having 3 to 4 years on their fellow draftees, giving them an advantage, and I suspect a few more players will surpass them. I also think that if the draft was redone more clubs would still rather the player who offers more years to the club than Taylor. For instance I agree that Taylor is better than Henderson, but Henderson will offer 3-4 more years than Taylor and will probably surpass him. Interestingly enough 16 of the top 19 came from the top 40. But it's fairly even and to be honest I don't see much difference between say the likes of Mumford and Bellchambers.
I know hindsight is always 20/20 but I think you might have gone a bit too early on this call Re: Taylor. Out of all the players you've put ahead of him I'd only be happy to have Dangerfield at the Cats more, and even then Danger would be structurally less important to the side than Taylor is now.

Yeah Taylor is the best defender in the comp. definitely top 3

Yeah top 3 from this draft are clearly Dangerfield, Cotchin and Taylor. Depending on needs you could go for any of them but they're clearly the top 3 players. Taylor's slightly older and there's more chance other players could surpass him but he's so good as is that it's unlikely any will. Really it's those 3 and a fair gap to the next group at the moment.

Dangerfield overtaken Cotchin this year.

Cotchin averages more disposals, Dangerfield more goals and marks and they have the same amount of tackles.

Cotchin being captain of a footy club, one in the top 8, leads me to conclude that he's still superior to Dangerfield. Not by much.

Nix Maxwell is the captain of Collingwood, does that make him better than Griffen of the Bulldogs because he plays in a terrible team and is not captain?

Re: re do the 2007 draft now that we know what we know

rioli is so over rated it's not funny, yes he does do some great things but he just does not do it as much as the raps on him would suggest, it’s so frustrating listening to some people go on about him, almost to the point where I hate him and feel robbed that I can’t enjoy watching him play
I love watching him he could get twice a quarter and I am still amazed at what he does

I'm interested to know where others think Jack Steven sits in this draft now. Has gone up a level again this year. Tough, clearance player who is seriously quick on the outside too. His disposal is much more reliable this year as compared to previously. Averaging 25.3 possessions, 0.5 goals, 3.9 tackles, 4.1 i50s, 5.6 clearances per game.

For mine Cotchin and Dangerfield the clear midfield standouts but after that there's a group of Selwood, Ebert, Ward and from this year I would add Steven too.

So would I, Steven looks like a top class player

2) Dangerfield
3) H Taylor

A) Grimes over Ebert and Masten? Lol.

B) Unless you want a guy currently running around for Central Districts reserves, you might want to reconsider your Matthew Westhoff selection (may I suggest his Port Adelaide namesake from that draft year Matthew Lobbe?). Justin Westhoff was drafted in 2006.

Sorry - Westoff is a bad miss.

That might indicate why people don't rate him a top 20 pick from 2007, given its only in his last 10 games that he has really hit his straps whereas a fair few of his contemporaries have been doing it for 5 years or more.

Do it for another year and then yeah, he'd be up there.

2. Trent Cotchin
3. Harry Taylor
4. Taylor Walker
5. Scott D. Thompson
6. Scott Selwood
7. Callan Ward
8. Matthew Kreuzer
9. Alex Rance
10. Pearce Hanley
11. Jack Steven
12. Shane Mumford
13. Brad Ebert
14. Cyril Rioli
15. Lachlan Henderson
16. Tom Bellchambers
17. Chris Mayne
18. Ben McEvoy
19. Chris Masten
20. Jack Grimes

Lol Rioli at 14
Rioli is a part time small forward, part time mid who's best is brilliant but goes missing and can be invisible the week after. I'd take all those he listed before him, as well as Henderson and McEvoy if I had to build a side. The rest of those guys are bonafide mids or KPPs or are much more consistent week to week.
