Draft Review 2007 - Redo the 2007 Draft

Would've thought Ebert's leadership is at least comparable to Grimes, even if he isn't the captain.

No doubt, but obviously I also rate Grimes as a comparable footballer. If I did it tomorrow I might even have Ebert top 10, it's a tough year after Walker and that was my gut feel.

For me:

1. Patrick Dangerfield
2. Trent Cotchin
3. Taylor Walker
4. Lachie Henderson
5. Cyril Rioli
6. Callan Ward
7. Scott Selwood
8. Jack Steven
9. Cale Hooker
10. Matthew Kreuzer
11. Ben McEvoy
12. Chris Masten
13. Jack Grimes
14. Alex Rance
15. Brad Ebert
16. Chris Mayne
17. Andy Otten
18. Ben Whitecross
19. Craig Bird
20. David Myers

Brad Ebert seems a steal at 15 right now, but I'll leave it how it is.
Scott Thompson and Harry Taylor both have been missed. They made the AA team this year and are both much better back men than Hooker who you have in the top ten.

Sorry, I left them out because of ages. I did it based on 89-90 birth years so it wasn't strictly the 2007 draft class. But yes, both easily top 10.

Harry Taylor should be number 1

I think anyone considered in the top 3 or so in their key position, league wide, is easily in the top 5 of their draft.

They're not easy to find.

My top 10 would be:

1. Dangerfield
2. Taylor
3. Cotchin
4. Walker
5. Thompson
6. Rioli
7. Steven
8. Ward
9. Selwood
10. Kruezer

For what it's worth, I'd have Taylor at #4 behind Walker. As it is, I have him at #6 in the 2004 draft.

Who would you have in front of him? He's an AA CHB, can drift forward and kick a bag, is a good rebounder, and great at shutting his opponent down. I'd personally have him in calculation for the number 1 pick. I'd probably go Taylor at 1, Danger at 2, Walker at 3.

Those are my top 3 also. I would even consider walker ahead of dangerfield. Crows did well it seems

People are missing Chris Mayne from their list, taken pick 40.

I'd have him just outside the top 10, but still a very underrated player.

Hooker & Bellchambers >> Myers yet David seems to feature in a lot more people's lists.
Bellchambers went in the pre-season draft, those going off the national draft list will miss him

Danger, Cotchin and Walker. Very tight between all of them and you'd be laughing to get Taylor at #4.

You'd be laughing if you got any of them at #4 really. Like you said it's incredibly tight between them, and it mostly comes down to personal preference between the 4.

And if we went back and looked at the four teams' needs at the time it would probably be a little clearer. But simply rating them as players it's splitting hairs.

Rhys Palmer will be lucky to be on a list in a few years time.

Palmer is a major disappointment as he looked pretty damn good in those early years.

Do you reckon he's been shitter than his first couple of years because of the lack of confidence in his knees or is he spooked by the injury he cause Michael Barlow?
