I'm drunk at work :/ I feel like I'm about to die

Shocking is a great horse no doubt, no idea how a four year old horse rides with less weight than a four year old mare, but make the most of the luck when it's coming.

If he runs again next year he'll have 56kg minimum, possibly more. He won't be able to sit three wide and burst home with 57kg on his back.

True, but with any luck he wont *have* to if he gets a decent barrier draw.

the key to the race for Shocking is that he stayed out of trouble.

By drawing ride - he never copped it from hungry jockeys who didn't care for race rules in a dawdle of a race at about maiden grade speed for the first 2,600 metres.

the 2009 Melbourne Cup wasn't a race, it was a rodeo.

Every horse and rider belted each other from pillar to post because of the slow speed and meant anyone from 4th down was beaten up

Me - copped 3 lots of interference. It was like a night with Brittany Spears.

Viewed - absolutely battered.

Daffodil - got killed.

Master O'Reily - came 15 wide on the turn to keep out of trouble.

Roman Emperor - got smashed.

the winner of the Melbourne cup dodgem horse and rodeo race, is the one who stays 3 wide with cover. out of harm’s way.

He was but he got crashed into from behind as one of the horses pulled in the slow pace and then he fell back through the field immediately.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Shocking was the strongest horse on the day and was a deserved winner. Can't take that away with IFS and BUTS. Racing isn't a perfect world and not everyone gets the perfect chance, and that's just how it is. So too bad.

Well done to all those who worked on Shocking.

The best race of the whole Carnival was the Turnbull Stakes..

It was the race where most of the best horses of the Spring competed.

Efficient is easily the best horse in Australia. If Lloyd Williams wasn't so rich and didn't treat Efficient like a family pet, he would be a superstar.

Caulfield Cup - dud won by a 2 miler plodder in Viewed.

Cox Plate - SYT, leader biased track and horse won due to weight. The 2nd placed horse, Manhattan Rain also on 49. Too hard to make ground on the day.

Melbourne Cup - Shocking - convincingly beaten by Alcopop previous two starts, couldn't even win the Queensland Derby in Winter..

Vic Derby - Consol ok, but the Warrior would probably have beaten her without an extended temperature.

ordinary carnival, ordinary horses.
