Nathan Krakouer? Tearing it up DT wise in the port geelong game. Should score well with better inside service this season, not sure he will hold his place.
It's either him or lucas for me. Krakouer will probably score more, but lucas will probably play more, but is injury prone and will probably move to low-scoring FF mode.
Your thoughts??

Krakouer is the one providing the service, running off half-back in the traditional Peter Burgoyne role. I don't know if he'll stay in that position once Burgoyne comes back, but he does look very good.

I would be happy with a 40-45 avg from Rich and thats what im expecting. 55 max from me. I would be rapt if he avgs 42 for the first 5 or 6 games. He will make plenty of coin. Expectations of him are too much. I think people will be saying ive got Rich starting and whilst making their predicted score for round 1 will give him a 65 which is a bit to high in my view.

Remember Brissy had Brennan, Power, Black, Brown, Rischitelli, T.Johnstone all out last night.

Why does it have to?

Law of averages it will, besides Brissy still have a lot of midfielders out of their side. You would put him in the side as a keeper for the year, there are far better proven dt'ers around that price, too risky for me.

Ask yourself is he better than the likes of Mitchell/Cooney/Hayes/Cross/Bruce/Murphy/Green/Cornes all around that price? No he is not. Maybe in a year or 2 when he has another 20+ games up we can all see if he is a fad or for real...

Unique pick Yes, and good luck.

Theres question marks around all of those players though. Dalziell is definitely a bit of a risky pick, but not that much more so than the others listed. The guy is a flat out ball magnet.

Well sure there is, but we all know what they are capable of, Dalzeill has had 7 games, hardly enough to start falling at his feet and kissing them :D

And yes a had a little pencil mark against his name until prices came out, too expensive for me.

Same goes for Jack Grimes, had him marked to checkout and for someone with only 1 game he is overpriced and your better off taking a kid under 100k.

I know this is only a Discussion thread and not a ruck thread but is anyone else even more confused about their ruck choices due to the low NAB cup/challenge scores by most of the rucks?

No ruckman has dominated or has done enough to change my pre-season views, has anyone else seen it differently?

I have gone Cox/Sandi, set and forget, although I did take Coxy out earlier tonight, was amazed at how much cash I had and made 2 massive upgrades :D

But i think common sense will take over tomorrow...

Ok this is probably just the lions support in me but im seriously starting to consider

Bradd Dalziell?

Me too. I was liking him after the round one performance but backing it up against Essendon was even better and hopefully justifying his price tag.....but.....

I just can't seem to click on the trade button though and get him.

Said to have put on alot of weight/bulk in off season and is probably developing into a nice KP player. However, he is probably going to be shifted forward in 2009, which could be positive for him if he can take more marks, kick 1-2 goals a game, and be released from a shut down role.

He is listed as a back, and i think he would be a unique pick that could increase by 15ppg if all goes well. He scored 62 in round one of nab that was overall a scrapy encounter that wasnt a good game for any KPs. Add a goal or two to that and 65 isnt out of the question IMO.

What are peoples thoughts?

Do people see Drew Petrie as a viable ruck option this year? I ran a few numbers, he averaged 81 with McIntosh in the side, 89 with him out. With Norths wealth of tall options, can he keep up his high scoring? Wont be needed in the ruck as much, but can play both ends of the ground. When he plays well, North plays well so he will definately get the TOG. He is also very durable, having only missed two games in the last 6 seasons, and none for the last two.

Anyone considering him? If McIntosh goes down again, he could end up being a great pick.

Nice unique pick, I'm not sure of him at that price though. Maybe as a forward?

One injury does not make Hamish injury prone. Drew will still average around 80 (at least) even with him in the side and he will be used at either end of the ground. Laidley will still rotate him in the ruck at times as well.

His latest practice match stats (courtesy of 54dogs): 11 kicks, 9 marks, 3 handballs, 5 goals.

what are some opinions on the big Q. really showed some form late last year.
104,119,89,103,87,123,100 in the last 7 rounds.

it could be his break out year. thoughts?

More stats on players in practice matches please???

I dont think he would average enough for a forward. Needs to be pushing 90+ to be a keeper there IMO. Compared to guys like Simmonds and Sandilands he might have the edge though - should average a similar amount, but just doesnt miss games. Im giving him serious thought.

I would not have him as a ruckman. I think Cox, Sandilands and Hille will definitely average more.

More stats on players in practice matches please???

They will come out next week I think, these are not official ...

Wells : 23 kicks, 12 marks, 9 handballs

Pav : 10 kicks, 3 marks, 6 handballs
Palmer : 9 kicks, 4 marks, 14 handballs

Hmm, fair enough. I already have Cox in the team (spending up big in the rucks), so its really between Hille, Sandi and Simmo. I dont trust Hille and Sandi to not miss games, and at the cash im investing durability is key. Will have to give it some thought.

He's one I've just been looking at this weekend. Really struggling to get an idea on his game style though, but I do see some potential.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Read this:

"Krakouer, 20, has played 14 games as a midfielder/half-forward, but the club is keen to try him in a Peter Burgoyne-like role across half-back.

Krakouer picked up 22 possessions in defence against Geelong on Saturday and was a standout before his opponent Mathew Stokes slotted through three quick goals in the last term.

“Krak [Krakouer] is going to be super important this year,” Kingsley said.

“He’s a great kick, a great decision-maker and he’s got speed, so he’s got the three qualities you need to be able to break down zones.

“He’s played two games on a half-back flank and we saw the quality of him in the first half. I think as the season goes on, he’s going to be a terrific player.”

At 190ish in the forward line, there's alot of value already there, but could be a great thing for his DT scores.

What are your thoughts?
