Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Watched BYU- Ole Miss 4th qtr. Ole Miss trailed 13-14 had 4th&10 on own 45 with 3.30 still on the clock.

Now it's a game with the D on top, plemty of time and only a one point deficit. Yet they panic, kill a crucial time out deciding to go for it.
Why the **** wouldn't you just punt the thing?? Would have got the ball back with plenty of time and decent field position in a one point game!!!??
Instead they panic and make a terrible decision.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Jaw-ja leads Boise State 7-0, after an 80 yard TD run by Boykin

As expected, a pro-Bulldog crowd in attendance

USF leads Notre Dame 23-13 with 6 minutes to go

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Broncos D is mauling our O-Line. Poor old Aaron Murray can't buy a couple of seconds to get a throw off.

Crowell looking okay after slipping on his first carry. Our other back is injured so he might have a lot of work to do in the second half.
I'm liking some of your "2nd efforts" (yeah yeah, Aussie Rules term) and how Crowell and your receivers are extending the play.

We (Boise State) were also very lucky on your first two drives as your Tight End fell over both times leading to incompletions.

And GG, don't be too dissapointed that the leftie Kellen Moore threw a pick. Georgia did throw a nano blitz at him that play :p

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Your boys are just running it down our throat now. Got very lucky with that offsides call on 4th and 7. At least Boykin is making some kick returns...

Looks like the usual UGA habit of dropping catches has bitten us on the arse again tonight. We really miss AJ!

Game not over yet, but we need a TO in a hurry.

Boykin has looked very dangerous the last 2 kick returns. Before that though, besides the 1st (or was it 2nd) pass break up by Georgia, and the 80 yard TD run, I've barely noticed (not sure if that's good or bad, could be doing a great shutdown corner job?)

I'm loving the look of Murray.

And he's only a Sophmore!!!!

I'm pretty happy we're playing you in 2011, would kinda be worried if we had to face you in 2013 :/

I dunno, the Broncos are turning into a 'reload instead of rebuild' team in the mould of OSU or USC. We just have too many young guys at the moment. Murray is a keeper, that's for sure, but he misses a real target aside from Orson Charles. And we are so light at RB. if Crowell goes down we have no one else, really. Samuels has been tried and he's an honest trier, nothing more.

I hope so, I guess next year we'll find out.

Don't worry about the youth.
You'll get better.

Murray is good enough to carve up the SEC East, and the West teams you have this year, just for how accurate he is (most of the time)

11-1 isn't out of the equation after how leaky South Carolina's defence showed today.

(I'll still tip 10-2 though)

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Hey guys, I've moved to Austin and have season tickets to the Longhorns so I thought I'd give a quick run down of the Rice @ Texas game. First off, there is an obvious improvement in the Texas offensive play calling. The offense actually looked like they wanted to move the ball down the field. Garrett Gilbert looked like he had gained a bit of confidence in the offseason and actually had a pretty good game. Every time he went long down the field he looked dangerous. He also had a very nice run when the gap presented itself.

But the biggest positive was the debut of Jordan Shipley's younger brother Jaxon, who looks to be a carbon copy of his brother and sporting the no. 8. Jordan was actually watching the game on the sidelines.

It was only Rice, and they didn't look too impressive, but there were some positive signs and a good early start. Next week against BYU will be a better gauge of where the Horns are really at, but i'm liking what I saw.

If there are any other Longhorns fans out there that want a more detailed report of the games, let me know.

Cheers.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

I'd like it

Longhorns are my #2

I love Vince Young and Colt McCoy. (Both due to their Texas days)

Hopefully you hang around.
Get to the Red River Showdown for us?

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

No worries Dirty Bird. I don't have ticket to the OU game yet, but I may end up going. I went last year and it is a great trip. I wont get to go to next weeks game against BYU as i'm playing footy over here if you can believe it and we have an away game. I play for the Austin Crows and we are flying to Tennessee to play the Nashville Kangaroos :thumbsu:

Haha, just horrible.

DirtyBird my fellow Bronco, what did you think of the all white ensemble against Georgia? The helmet grew on me during the game (love the orange eyes on the bronco), so much so that I want to pick one up! Are they selling them? It would look sick with my colts replica helmet.

Do you have any Boise gear?

Interestingly enough, I'm wearing a Kellen Moore jersey right now :p
Replica of what we wore in last years MAACO Las Vegas Bowl.

And in arms reach i've got a keyring on my keys.

Also have an order from America being shipped right now of a hoodie, baseball cap, beanie and a replica jersey of what we wore ont he weekend (Kellen Moore again) :p

My thoughts of the uniforms, loved them alot. Well, wished it was all white, blue socks and orange shoes stood out a little too much.

For those who havn't seen them yet....

On the helmets. I havn't seen any on the site I use but I'll just double check. Nup, they don't have it.

Maybe double check in the future?

No helmets yet though :(

with a plain jersey (ie: no flag pattern on the shoulders) this helmet would work. it has potential to be as awesome/revolutionary as the bengals lid was when it was first worn

I like Maryland's jersey. Those are obviously off the Baltimore coat of arms.
Maryland state flag actually

Baltimore is only half of it

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Northwestern State @ 2 LSU - Emotionally exhausted? Take opposition lightly?
3 Alabama @ 23 Penn State
- Penn State at home is always a tough assignment
Charleston Southern @ 5 Florida State
6 Stanford @ Duke
Oregon State @ 8 Wisconsin
Arizona @ 9 Oklahoma State - Arizona is pretyy good, Oklahoma State is better, but anything can happen, especially as the Pac-12 need to show how good they are, if they want to 'woo' Oklahoma
Fresno State @ 10 Nebraska
11 Virginia Tech @ East Carolina - East Carolina pushed South Carolina, can they do the same? This time, at home?
12 South Carolina @ Georgia - South Carolina has to improve their defence pretty fast if they want to stop Aaron Murray, and the Defence of Georgia only has to do the same this week, and Marcus Latimore is shutdown pretty easily, and South Carolina's QB is a bit hot and cold, he was hot last week, time to be cold
Nevada @ 13 Oregon
- Nevada is a bit of an unkown this year as far as talent goes, but teams (Boise 09, Ohio State 09, Cal 10, Auburn 10, LSU 11) have shown how to stop this Oregon offence. Can Nevada duplicate that defensively? They have an offensive gameplan that could do damage, question is talent wise, I wouldn't put it past them, as Oregon could have a Virginia Tech letdown (circa 2010) as well
New Mexico @ 14 Arkansas
Toledo @ 15 Ohio State - Toledo is one of the best in the MAC, Ohio State only played Akron last week, Toledo is much better than them. I for one am going for Toledo (and then on the short week get spanked by Boise next week :p)
16 Mississippi State @ Auburn
Florida Atlantic @ 17 Michigan State
UAB @ 18 Florida
Norfolk State @ 19 West Virginia
21 Missouri @ Arizona State - Arizona State IMO is the most underrated AQ school right now, they have the talent to make the Pac-12 Championship game, maybe even win it. They should deal with Missouri pretty easily (2-3 scores) IMO
Ball State @ 22 South Florida
BYU @ 24 Texas
25 TCU @ Air Force - TCU's D is designed to beat the run, which will worry Air Force, but TCU will be inconsistent early this year, and after their offence put up 48 vs Baylor, I doubt they can duplicate it again this week.

Red = Upset Alert
Bold = Tip

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

At tonight's SEC Presidents Meeting, early word filtering out from Atlanta indicates that Texas A&M received the sufficient votes to gain an invitation to join the Southeastern Conference effective 7/1/2012.

In other news, details are sketchy but sources also indicate that the SEC presidents gave SEC Commissioner Mike Slive the authority to negotiate with both Missouri and West Virginia to possibly be the fourteenth conference member.
http://tamu.scout.com/2/1103665.html

Hopefully they go West Virginia. Weaken that Big East.
Just need TCU to go the way of Michigan and become irrelevant, making the Big East completely irrelevant, and maybe lose their AQ spot. (Or come back to the MWC for more competition while still getting an AQ spot?)

BYU is apparently getting an official invitiation to the Big 12 next.

While Oklahoma (and Oklahoma State and Texas Tech) are seriously considering Pac-12.

Texas seems to want to stay due to the Pac-12 probably not allowing LongHorn Network.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

i think there will be 4 "Super conferences" in the future Pac-16, SEC, Big10 (with 16 teams) and Big East and ACC will join. i think Texas will join the Pac-12 but could be hard to work out the Longhorn Network stuff with the Pac-12 Network launching next year.
