I guess you'd approach it a number of different ways, that being the obvious one. Another maybe being do I believe in myself enough to be good enough to change the landscape of the team i'm trying to break into. Of course, you can't blame him for taking the easy way out but it could be the end of his AFL career before it even began.

Can you blame him though Nickos?

You wouldn't want to be fighting for a gig up forward against Buddy and Cyril. Would be purely a business/career decision.

Exactly, he's more of a HF flanker anyway, in the Fyfe mould but not as good obviously. I reckon he would be worth a shot, at least put pressure on guys like Mayne/Mellington to make the half foward their own.

Grover and Van Berlo have signed 1 year contracts according to the west.
Decision on Pearce and Crowley within days.

So whats happening with Sibo?

By my reckoning that gives us 6 main list spots to fill if you assume that we elevate Lower and shift Pav onto the veterans list.

We will prob use 5 draft picks on draft day and then 1 for the psd although I am not sure who we would pick up. Still think Neon Leon would be of value for the next two years.

This year we have delisted our only three developing young KPPs. This stands as a failure of our list management IMO. We now have to go back to square one and start all over again and develop some new ones. I have been worried about our drafting strategy for the last few seasons.

We have to get the best available talls with two of our top three top picks. The notion that we can get lucky with a bunch of rookie kpps is a fallacy and has been well and trully laid to rest this year.

However, I have a horrible feeling that another bunch of small to medium midfield types are heading our way:mad:

Thats quite a number of vacancies on the list, will be interesting to see how deep we go into the drafts.

Would I be correct that a couple of players will be eligible for veteran status and thus reduce the number of rookie spots available?

We are going to be at the mercy of the marauding Giants. Here is a thought; GWS go BANG; Kersten, BANG; McInness, BANG; Lockyer.

If I was them I would take any decent tall befor the other clubs who might be interested get a look in.

If they tilt their drafting towards needs/strategy in any way, we get a better pick than we would in a normal draft. In your example above we get a better quality mid than we might other wise expect.

Just hope we can then rectify our tall deficiencies by trading/free agency in the next couple of years

Why would would they chase mids? They will have a core of at least half a dozen mids who will be highly rated before they get anywhere near pick 10, plus Scully and co. And if they are light on then next year they pinch another couple from other clubs and wheel and deal the U17's again. It will be the talls they may have problems with.

You can't say that. In Bond we trust!

I like Bondy, but with two more delisted (Houghton Sibosado) from during his reign we really need to load up on some talls this draft, and for once earlier than the dregs of the Rookie draft (Houghton excepted, felt he was done by a tad harshly but it's a brutal game).

Seeing Chris25's mock draft, I'd be pretty happy with Kersten/Tomlinson and Frost amongst our first 3 picks. Wouldn't mind a true midfielder either that can actually play inside, Chris25 seems to rate Devon Smith. He or whoever other midfielder is available wouldn't be bad.

Hopefully we snare Davis in the PSD, I guess it depends whether WC want to foil us and take him in the ND, something I wouldn't be against unless it was a very late pick.

I've been on Kyal Horsely's bandwagon for a while, would give us a ready made inside midfielder with goal kicking ability. If that all happens I'd be reasonably pleased, a couple of midfielders who can play inside and a couple of KPP's, ideally one who can play at each end of the ground.

Lot's of if's though, will be very interested to see how this all ends up.

We'll also have plugged our deficit of small defenders, at least temporarily, wouldn't be against drafting a small like Ah Chee either.

Big wishlist!
