Bye in Round 1 would be good, but it'd kill me too. Apparently Essendon want to play a Victorian club at home in Round 1 (Hirdy's first AFL game as coach), so it'll almost definitely be us v them in Round 1 because:

Collingwood: Won't play Essendon till ANZAC day
Geelong v St. Kilda
Carlton v Richmond
Hawthorn v Adelaide
North v Freo (likely)

That's all the other Victorian teams accounted for except the Doggies. And tbh, who's going to wanna watch the Doggies?

North Melbourne is playing West Coast at Subiaco round 1. You guys are playing Sydney at the MCG apparently according to a thread on the Swans forum, Red White Online.

us playing at melbourne is much more logical imo. I assume starting next year we will get more and more good games. IE fridays etc

Surely you have to have notched up a few wins the previous season to get Friday night games?
Unless you're Collingwood or Essendon...

or if you are an up and coming team. Melbourne will get more air time on free to air this year unless fox has more of a choice

If you listen to the press conference from Gil McLaughlin this morning about the NAB Cup fixture he said something along the lines of you guys are playing interstate to start the NAB Cup as you don't have much travel in the h&a season

Doubt that - us an the bulldogs would be the most travelled sides in the past ten years. Can't see that changing.

i tell you guys it makes sense. Melbourne fans come in droves if we are doing well. There are surprising lot of us so they want us to play in Melbourne to get the crowds.

Mark it down there will be an improvement compared to the past years about games being played i/s the only trade we might have to play more at ES

Glad to get a tough game out of the way early.

Firmly believe we can beat the Swans though, yes, it will be at the SCG, but you have to remember we will only be better than we were this year.
