Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Have Swan, Judd, and Selwood in the Mids and want another premium. Can afford Pavlich, Embley, or Bolton.. Who should I grab? Or take Curnow and upgrade later?

I wouldnt get Curnow, think you'd be better served with 4 premiums in the mid this early on if you can do that. Curnow's job security also abit of an unknown.

Wouldnt take Embley - he wont keep this up throughout the season IMO.

Pavlich or Bolton cant really go wrong either way...I'd say Pav just because he's Pav but Bolton is in ripping form. Maybe weigh up how many Syd/Freo players you have or whether Pav can help you better being an MPP?

NEED HELP

backs - goddard, deledio, gibbs, grimes, otten, lower, duigan (brodie smith, batchelor, stanley)

mids - judd, pendles, boyd, selwood, j p kennedy, harris (libba, bewick, irons)

already going Curnow IN, Kennedy OUT.

also picking up DYSON HEPPEL.
questions are
a) do i pick him up as mid or def? leaning to def as it is the weaker line although i would like the MPP flexibility

b) If through def - do i trade for smith OR batchelor OR stanley?

They are all named ON FIELD this week which makes the decision that much tougher.

(If through mid - for Irons or Bewick?)

Thanks guys

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Whats a POD?

Hmm, definite idea though. I don't even have Lower so maybe I could go Bruce > Lower... I'm just not sure I'm content hanging onto Bruce. It might cost me a trade early to get rid of him. But I think it'll cost me points throughout the season as well as money later in the season to keep him.

Pod = point of difference

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Cross > Boyd ?

Thought the captaincy on Boyds shoulders would affect his game but it hasnt stopped him.

I've watched both Doggies games and Cross has been a bit of a bystander apart from dishing out a few handballs.

I think some people are mis handling Heppell, why not pick him in the mids as you along with most have one, two or even three of Gibbs, Deledio and/or Goddard. Will give you MPP and also job security.

I have him in the mid bench along with Curnow and Liberatore (last minute trades have been bliss before lockout :D)

Just my two cents

I was umming and arring over Fyfe -> Dawes and took the punt. Also, was thinking about Boak and trading him, heard Glenn Luff from champion data and he said no point trading for the sake of trading a premium just because they are not performing.. He said they will come good.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I agree. Keep your premiums. They're keepers, their price doesn't matter.

I can't decide whether I smith and the mid/fwd mpp is more important has having libba/curnow....

Jude Bolton looks to be a good pick, playing up forward and kicking a couple of goals a match adds that extra 25 odd points, which is good. Plus he would be an effective unique.
Don't really trust Embley, he has been injury prone I think??? and in recent years has had purple patches but dropped off soon.

If you can afford Pavlich, you could also get Boak, Griffen or Mundy.

Imo, Pavlich > Griffen > Bolton > Mundy > Boak > Embley. So Pav :thumbsu:

If you got rid of Fyfe, watch out :p the kid will HOPEFULLY be a gun....please be a gun this year ;)

My problem is Pittard/Bewick/Hibberd to Liberatore/Curnow.

Probably won't trade Hibberd as he should play eventually, and with his dual positioning, don't want to lose his flexibility.

So basically, which player do I trade out, and which one do I trade in (I'm 70% going for Liberatore)

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Apologies to all SC'ers, but I've just traded in Libba so expect to him play poorly this week :D Also traded out Jolly for Cox.

Would have liked to have gotten in Curnow before the rise but Jolly has been killing me; should have trusted my first instincts and had Cox from Rd 1

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Trading Beau Waters for Shaun McKernan and Lindsay Thomas for Buddy.

Did I do good? Y/N

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Can some of the people that have picked and voted for Libba over Curnow explain to me why?

Curnow doesn't have a bye till rd8 and has a weaker draw in the coming weeks compared to Libba...Feel free to shoot down my reasoning. Mclean affects curnows job security sure..but are we over rating Mclean?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Is Ward for Curnow conceivable? Ward has been serviceable but trading him is the only way I can get him in. (not touching Heppell/Libba/Harris)

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Gents, some advice if you could.

Current team is as follows with 93k in the kitty:

BACKS: Goddard, Scotland, Broughton, Heppell, Bruce, Lower, Duigan (Otten, Stanley & Toy)

MIDS: Pendlebury, Bartel, A. Swallow, Cross, Harris, D. Swallow (Pittard, Bewick & Atley)

FORWARDS: Pavlich, Tapscott, Riewoldt, Franklin, Goodes, Green, Krakouer (Richardson, Matera & Pitt)

Thinking of going Atley > Libba/Curnow and Cross > Swan..

Sideways, but kinda not since Swan is a machine and will probably net an extra 30-40ppg than Cross it would seem. I was pretty set on this trade but I have other issues such as Bruce in the backline and Green up forward that could potentially be of greater importance.

Should I get Swan at all costs? Should I wait it out and just trade Atley > Curnow/Libba? I am going for a league win btw. Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

At this time of the season having I.Smith is pointless. I am aiming to downgrade to him later. Then you get the option to cover MIDs & FWDs with a single MPP. Get the extra cash while you still can.

Competition for spots is of greater concern for Curnow than Libba it would seem. Curnow has McLean, Hadley and Joseph as potential competion whereas Libba would only have Brodie Moles and Mitch Wallis as direct competition (correct me if I am wrong).

Even still, Curnow has dominated VFL level and could very well be the next Barlow. Likewise, he has played two relatively weak sides and may find the going a bit tougher against the top sides, in that sense he could be the next Muston. I am genuinely 50 50 on it. Maybe slightly towards Libba. Toss a coin.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

is richardson to tapscott worthwhile? or is to early to tell? is tapscott as good as his scores suggest, im yet to see him play

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Libber also has his bye when there are no league games and then doesnt have a bye until round 20.

take libba not being bias here ;), but honestly libba looks safer, im not 100% sold on curnow yet

I don't think anyone is 100% sold on Curnow. I just keep thinking that he has dominated the VFL for a few years now and with a midfield of Judd, Murphy and Gibbs he should be able to score well and play well most weeks. Then I think he has only played Gold Coast and Richmond. Then I think of Beau Muston. Then I log out. I may just go Libba in DC, and Curnow in DT. Hedge the bets of sorts.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Hi guys, need some advice:
is bringing Darling in for Gamble a worthwhile trade? I'll make $$ but wonder whether it's a burnt trade. I have tapscott already - Darling is the best choice at the price. Any thoughts appreciated, cheers.

Seems like a wasted trade, even though I'd prefer to have Darling. Gamble should still get some game time and you'd expect the Saints to get better overall.

I'm wondering which high-priced rookie to dump for Curnow, mainly to give me money to upgrade a mid to a premium before their prices go up.

At the moment it is between Krakouer (COL) and Gaff (WCE) for Curnow, any thoughts?

Hadley retired at the end of last season so really Curnow has only McLean (if he gets/stays fit) to worry about but this would only be if his own form drops off, its all predictive at this stage but being that bit older and stronger there doesnt seem to be a reason to doubt him at this stage.

Need advice, should I upgrade Mitch Clark to Cox or Isaac Smith to Tapscott & build up cash??

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I have $18,100 in the bank..

I want to loose Jolly and get Cox.. ($39,800 required)..

next decision is.. do i get one of Libba or Curnow in for Conca to raise the cash.. anticipating that this is a good cash cows invetment..

OR is it better to miss out on one of those and 'fix' my A.Everitt problem, and trade him out for suckling before he begins his downward spiral??

(because i already have some good cows in: Tapscott, Mckernan, Peterson, Heppell, Lower, Dugian, Darling.. but is that enough?)
