Re: Round 4 Trades

Glad to have you back JM.

Poor spelling and emoticons have rarely been so refreshing.

Re: Round 4 Trades

I aim to please. :D:eek::D:thumbsu:

Have been a bit quiet due to my dismal start to the season.

0-3 in Bigfooty Div 1 :mad::thumbsd:

Overall ranking down from 15,000 odd to 19,000 odd.

Can only get better from here. I have a couple of masterplan trades coming up. Mahahaa!:thumbsu:

Re: Round 4 Trades

Not sure what I'll do this week, with boyd, libba and montagna out I've got swallow, harris, swan, bartel, curnow and worryingly atley on the field (still kicking myself i didnt bring in heppell last week). If atley doesn't get named do I trade him or just accept the donut? I'm sitting at 5101 overall.

hey Shaun, sounds as though if you get rid of Atley you'll be picking up another cheapie that might not get much of a score (unless you have a lot in the bank). So i'd prob either take the donut, or trade montagna, but i know that's not a popular decision at the moment. Just wait til thursday, i expect Atley will be named and your problems are gone

Re: Round 4 Trades

Mate if i was you i wouldn't trade this week barring injury or omission. I got rid of Everitt last week for Heppell to cash in on his form and price increase which i don't regret, but with everitt's output last week i'd at least hold on until it drops again. Your team is very similar to mine. I think i remember you mentioning about the possibility of trading Fyfe last week, bet you're glad you didn't now lol, i was thinking the same thing but held onto him
Oh mate was I happy that I didn't get rid of fyfe haha:p I got way to carried away with wanting to get some money in the kitty as I only have 2k lol.

Here's hoping that everitt pulls out another descent score this week:o

Sweet, yeah I made the mistake of sideways trading a premium last year after only a few games and I won't be doing it again with montagna. Thanks ;)

Re: Round 4 Trades

New to these forums but have been reading this one for the last week and finally signed up as it seems to be the one with plenty of info and no blow arses on it.
I have 2 issues with my defenders,
1 - I have Harry Taylor and he is killing me except for one game
2 - I have Puopolo on the bench and does not look like getting a game soon.

I have the usual suspects in Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Lower, Grimes, Taylor (Otten, Toy, Puopolo). I have a $135k in the bank, your feedback would be appreciated.

Personally I'd hang onto Taylor until Geelong's round 6 bye. If he still isn't performing I'd look to trade him out if you are still unhappy with his form. I've been looking into Enright recently who could be a possible upgrade option.

Re: Round 4 Trades

Have Lenny Hayes so obviously need to trade him out, either Scott Thompson / Ryan Griffin price rangenow or wait to cash in a rookie & get Scott Pendlebury / Leigh Montagna type after the multi byes, advice appreciated?

Puopolo > Stanley.

What's a blow arse? Pretty sure JM is one ;)

Re: Round 4 Trades

hmmm am thinking of dropping a defender down to suckling to enable leon davis to morph into cyril rioli.
Defenders in question are Johncock, Grimes & Broughton. Also have Goddard and Enright who are untouchable.

what does everyone think???

IMO downgrading premiums to chase points is a silly idea, but then I also think picking Neon and Johncock to start with is pretty silly too.

And this is why:

Both of those players are well-known inconsistent scorers with high SD's and if you know that you have an itchy trade finger, you try not to pick players that will tempt you to trade them out. Because then you're just burning trades for the sake of it.

I too have Taylor. Though last round coach said Taylor was not feeling good, so not necessary a form issue. I'm not going to get sucked into the 2 low scores even though they will hang around and drag his price down, I'm still expecting his average in the coming rounds.

How many cows, maturing between 250k - 350k do you typically expect to harvest in a given season?

Re: Round 4 Trades

Thinking of this:

Grimes > Adcock/R.Murphy/Suckling

Then Atley > Curnow

Unfortunaltely missed him last week (Attempts to kick self in nuts but just falls over and looks stupider than trying to kick ones self in the nuts would look) but I want him this week, providing hes named and keeps his average up. If he keeps it up, he saves a trade later in the season trying to upgrade for a premium.

Alternatively I could go just:

Swallow>Curnow

Or

N. Reiwoldt > Rioli

and

Atley > Curnow

But these upset me.

Re: Round 4 Trades

I'm thinking of bringing in Bolton. Will he maintain his form?
Reflecting what I just posted in another thread:

When I'm looking at price variations I first try to explain why there has been a price variation... A negative variation could be due to strong opposition, teammates stealing your points, injury etc. While positive variation could be be due to simply a 'purple patch', it could also be due to poor opposition, other teammates missing (and taking their points).

However one factor which contributes to both positive & negative price variation (as I think is partially the case for Jude) is a role change. Bolton is playing a new role this year, he's always been a tough dive in head first tackling contested ball winning machine... Playing FWD this year you add a couple of goals onto that and yes, I think he can maintain something similar points-wise through the year. The only issue is age and injury.

Yeah sorry guys, that is what I meant as I am a Hawks man and don't have any of Stratton, Osborne, Mitchell or Rioli in my supercoach team.....yet !

Yeh looking at holding him until after the bye.

I am pretty happy with the calf's and how they are coming along, but still a little bit away from being cows and going to market. Have about 9 in the paddock at the minute which are looking good.:)

Re: Round 4 Trades

Bruce -> M Hurley
Conca -> Curnow

Thinking of cutting my losses on Bruce (huge break even, can't trust someone who might be used as a sub) for M. Hurley (scores of 80, 90, 100 and playing in a winning team)

And the other is a slightly sideways trade but Conca is looking like a very slow burn for a cash cow, while there's still plenty of cash to be made on Curnow, looks to be a consistent scorer, even if he doesn't keep up his 100+ average (expecting that to dip a bit).

Re: Round 4 Trades

I've been disappointed with Duffield as a semi-unique, and am considering moving him on to someone slightly cheaper, but still in the 300-400K range, to boost the coffers and avoid more price drops. There's a few standouts from the last week or two- Gibson/Murphy/Ladson/Mattner/McPharlin/Adcock. Does this seem wasteful? Any other people to add to the list?

A couple of those guys are risky health-wise (I love Bob Murphy, but he'll hurt himself, I just know it, same goes for Adcock), and a couple will have byes in the next couple of weeks. I've also got Rhyce Shaw & Andy Otten to worry about, but they're going to lose less money. I could, of course, do a double trade and bring in another premium (like Gibbs or Enright) to join Goddard, Lids & the other Shaw boy, but I was thinking of waiting to see how Lake goes over the next couple of weeks before doing that.

Re: Round 4 Trades

Looking at trading Daniel Harris into my team for this week before his price rises.
My midfield:

Swan, Judd, Pendlebury, Selwood, Curnow, Liberatore (Swallow, Bewick, Irons)

Would anyone recommend this and who do I trade out? Cheers.

Re: Round 4 Trades

I am thinking of picking up Zach Smith as Ruck backup (I have Cox & Sandi). I see no reason Smith cant maintain some decent scores, since most team wont bother defending against GC.

So the question is, do you need a ruck backup? Only West Coast have 1 bye during league rounds. He could be a cash-cow, but I already have plenty of them. Is it just a waste of a trade?

Also is having Buddy & Cyril in the fwd line a bad idea? Cyril looks like he may have a big year, and is about to jump in price....

Scored 63rd ranking last week, so not convinced I should even trade till after rnd 6.

I would trade out Irons as Harris is likely to be a much more consistent scorer with greater job security. Irons or Bewick.

My dilemma involves Bruce and Rioli. I really want to get rid of Bruce and I really want Rioli.

I'm thinking of getting rid of Astbury for B Smith, which would free up enough cash for Jetta to Rioli. (I already have about 80k) However Bruce's price seems like it is going to drop significantly (40k?) this week so I want to get rid of him now. But If I trade him out this week then I lose quite a few points that he would score over Astbury. To add to the confusing situation, I am wondering if Suckling is worth bringing in?

So the options are:

This week:
Astbury to B Smith (So Bruce helps me get a decent score this week)
L. Jetta to Rioli

Next Week
Bruce to Adcock?

OR

This week:
Bruce to B Smith (to avoid Bruce price drop)
L. Jetta to Rioli

Next Week
Astbury to Adcock?

SOOO:
1) What should I do?
2) Should I consider bringing in Suckling( and will he maintain his great scores?
