2012 AFL Draft Combine - News and Invitees

Surely Rhys Waters from Subiaco deserves to be in at least the state combine. Did anyone see his game against East Fremantle this year, when he won the game for them kicking 4 goals and having numerous possessions. Definitely one of the best talents to be overlooked in last years draft.

Subiaco have plenty of young players this year, enough to stock a heap of them in the league side for a few years. Many are better than him.

And they would be? the only other player in the last 3 years from Subi to have played state 18s is Deluca. Also I don't recall any players his age winning any games for them this year and being named in the best over 6 times this year? So i would like to know who the "many" are who are better then him??

At least get your facts straight.

If he is good enough, the scouts know where he is - even if they missing on Jack Darling.

I reckon Rhys will eventually get drafted but he'll have to do it the usual Subi way - a la Matt Priddis, Greg Broughton, Kyal Horsley etc - who were all ignored by the AFL at 18 but played so well at league level later on that they were picked up as mature picks.

We have to consider that Rhys was eligible for colts this season and I don't doubt that he would have carved up if he had played at that level.

Next season is a key year for him. He has 18 league games under his belt. I reckon once a player has played 20 he should be ready to have a big impact pretty much every week.

Hi Chris, i couldn't find him in your list, but have you heard any murmurs about Justin Van Unen from Rye? He played in the country championships and i think he was an all australian country player this year. I knew him as a junior and he was an absolute freak, but had injury troubles. 100 goals or so later i was lead to believe he'd caught some attention. Let me know if you'd rather a post like this in your Mock.

Those guys are very athletic could make for a decent fullback and ruckman I want the lions to draft 2 of em. Also, basketballers seem to be a good fit for aussie rules.

The players who don't make the combine go to the state screening... yes we all know that
But the thing I like to know is that the players who are invited to the state screening are requested by the recruiting team from an AFL club, meaning all at state screening players are being watched closely by clubs

I'll be updating this thread with all the results from the Draft Combine once they become available.

Do you have access to a full list of results? It is frustrating trying to find out how players that you are following are faring based on the scant reports you get on AFL.com.au.

Full results will be up later tonight, but at least 4 players have broken Naitanui's standing vertical jump record (78cm). The American Eric Wallace was of course one of them with 80cm. But proving that white men can indeed jump was Dean Towers (85cm), Jesse Lonergan (83cm) and Spencer White (82cm).

Hi Chris, where do you get the full results from?
