We didn't cover ourselves in glory back in 2012 elimination final with several players cooked, Boomer getting reported twice, travelling, the heat and well what I'm trying to say that it wasn't an ideal lead up or day.

This year we knew we were playing finals three weeks ago and we have taken the opportunity to freshen up a couple of players, debut a couple of kids and experimented with a few moves like Cunners and Jack to the forward line, Atley on a wing and LMac on the ball. We are playing at home and our team don't appear to be cooked. We've won our last 4 during this period and it's interesting it has largely gone unnoticed in the media. I like it.

Noone at the club has come out with the usual lines about "great challenge" or "the last finals appearance burns in the guts" rhetoric they are trained to say.

I feel very confident this week but if we lose, Sack Scott. [emoji6]

One thing I will say in defence of 2012 was that the heat was horrific. Not worth near 100 points of horror but worth something.

That was however then ....

One of many factors against us that year

Certainly better prepared this year, with fresher players and a solid last month. Should be more confident with the record against top eight sides during the season. Main source of confidence is that the key players in the engine room are now almost 50 games more experienced so they are standing shoulder to shoulder with Swallow, not leaving him one out.

We limped into the 2012 final, Cunnington and Ziebell were the only ones who turned up to play. All credit to WCE on that win. Saturday night is the complete opposite, riding a 4 game winning streak (regardless of quality opposition) and have some fresh, fit players ready to leave it all out there. I can't wait for Saturday night!
