Because it looks like from the phantom threads that Vlastuin is a late 1st round pick !

why not improve our others selections than taking a kid that is rated at 15-20 at pick 9

I hope our recruiters don't base trades off phantom drafts. I have him at 11 in my one. So it's hardly a reach. Knightmare had him at 2 for awhile. Kid can play.

Found this article on Vlastuin. He is the player I want with our first pick, and has been since the start of the year when Knightmare had him going top 2.

I'll take FJ as knowing a lot more than all bar about 15-20 guys in Australia - who know about as much as him. Vlasutin sounds like he might be the beast we need, if his issues this year are due to a nagging injury. The impact of him not being able to move well will really required careful analysis. If he will recover from the injury just through rest then what is needed is an assessment of his ability, not his form. Only a professional with full access to the player, his coaches, lots of analysis and experts on the physical and psychological issues will be able to make a good judgement. He might be a top 2 player still, just can't run properly. He might suck.

We need both and every club wants a player like Darling, unfortunately not many of those types around and you can't always get what you want.
Premierships are won from the midfield and we have FA quality depth and the best players available around our picks are going to be midfielder and it would be a ridiculous decision to reach for a player not nearly as good who may turn out to be a halfway decent CHF when there isn't really any about.
This draft is very strong for midfielder and our first 3 picks will be used on them.

most players usually know who will be taking them when it gets past picks 10-15 the clubs usually say to them if you are therte at our pick - your coming to us.

Because there are no assurances unless you have pick 1. If we were going to downgrade from 9 to 13 Melbourne would have to give us 26 not just upgrade our pick. That would actually be worthwhile considering.

Sydney offered a 1st rounder to upgrade a 1st rounder by 3 spots.
Pick 26 or whatever it is in reality is not that valuable a pick. Especially when it's your 4th. If you could trade it to get 3 picks in the top 9 I think you would.

Sydney wanted Martin & they would of done anything to take him with 3 and knew he was available there as melbourne pretty much Guaranteed it with not even interviewing Martin.

Nor is pick 26 and pick 14.

a 4 pick downgrade in first round is nowhere near the same value as 5 picks in the 2nd round. 1st round there is a rough order that is followed. Shit goes all over the place by 2nd round.

Our best bet of downgrading from 9 to 13 is if Melbourne trade it to GC for Caddy and then GC give us 13 & 25 for 9 because they only want to use 2 ND picks and add O'Meara and Horsley.

3 way draft trade deal. Give away our first pick for a downgrade plus a 2nd rounder. Trade 2 second rounders, the 2 latter ones, or maybe 3. Gain a top 10 pick. LOLOLOL me being optimistic. Imagine 2 first round picks. Would have to slap myself across the face to believe that one.
