Ok we know who is in the firing line for delisting but who are the potential trade options? ie too good to cut but some what out of favour etc, not saying they are leaving but have to be discussed at least.

My thoughts:

Nicholls, good prospect but a few bigs ahead of him here.
Dixon, will likely stay but I know of a few clubs that would take him in a heart beat.
Gorringe, holds high currency but down the depth charts a bit here. Crows/Power would go hard for him.
Caddy, much discussed, we would get something nice in return and not a 'must keep' so to speak.

That is probably it, possibly Flanagan also but id like to retain him on the rookie list if it can be done.

Completely missed Toy, he's a fair chance to leave also. Of this list I would be happy to see all go except Dixon. You don't want too many guys in the same age bracket and this will help us both short/long term.

I would not like to see any of our boys used as a trade for Tippett (especially Day) and I haven't seen the Blight interview but Bluey was talking about how it could be argued that a strong mature forward could help the developement of the other young forwards around him on the Suns TV show pregame. Put that together with the Blight smirk and I am nervous.

Day is contracted, more likely to involve gorringe if anything. Perhaps a 3 way, gorringe to crows, caddy to bombers, Tippett and 3rd rounder to suns, bombers 1st rounder to crows.

Bombers first rounder is going on Daniher, perhaps Caddy to Demons or dogs but I can't see crows taking on gorringe with all the injuries. If he didn't get over them they would be giving up Tippett for a mid first rounder.
It may come down to our first pick for Tippett and let the Vic clubs fight it out for caddy to get the best deal

I watched the Blight interview on Utube last night and the impression I took from Blights comments on the Tippet / Day question was that we may be offering Day. Blight stated that it was all about value and used the Judd / Kennedy trade as an example of how at the time it appeared lopsided but in hind site it ws a good trade for both clubs. To me that says that we are talking to the crows about either Day of another highly rated kid that hasn't reached potential yet, just like the Judd / Kennedy trade.

It's extremely hard to see Tippett going to the Suns at this stage. We just committed to Day at the end of last year. It seems very strange that we would offer him on the table so soon afterwards, especially now that he's starting to show some glimpses of his potential.

During Trade Week last year we had no interest in Tippett whatsoever. I remember hearing comments that GC did not even approach Adelaide at all. It's hard to see this changing this year.

At the moment it's looking doubtful he will head anywhere. But if he were, he would head to the Lions. They don't have to shrink their list, have the cap space and need the KPF. From what I can see, they haven't even got the Lynch/Day equivalent. I think I can recall them saying that they're going to use Leuey up forward more, but yeah. They would be screaming for him much more than us.

Just trying to let you all down nicely so that when he doesn't end up at the Suns, you're not too shattered about it. ;)

Blighty is entitled to his opinion of course, but as a member of the board, I don't think he has any influence or control over list management at all. I just cannot fathom why we would trade a pick 3 player from 2 years ago for Tippett.

There's only one player that I'm keeping an eye on right now that's from the Suns Academy.

Daniel Van De Werken. 177cm midfielder from Southport, who's also in the U18 competition right now representing Queensland. Very quick, and someone that's been used as a top-up player in our 2s a number of times. He's probably the pick of the top-ups we use, really. Very reliable to be courageous at the contest.

Did I mention he has speed? Haven't seen many able to catch him.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him picked up as a rookie next year.

What about Aaron Cornelius? Can hardly get a game at Brisbane, but has shown a bit in the games he has played. Would be a good target up forward.

Heard a whisper this morning Jesse white could be coming home. Body of a hulk and a lot cheaper than Tippett. A good option given his age/ability and being a Southport product.

We don't need to make any drastic changes though, wouldn't touch Cornelius.

Would steer clear of. We have a few of his type already IMO.

Fantastic hands and jump, but I would prefer Stanley over him right now. Stanley can also shift into the midfield.
Wouldn't Stanley be more a of a HF and Cornelius from what I've seen plays pretty deep as a tall marking option. Agree we have blokes like that already though.

Just out interest guys , do you see yourselves as direct competitors with GWS or would you willingly trade with them. Another Minidraft pick to be had an you guys have a heap of rucks.

What do you think Caddy will get you? R2 pick fair? ( Doubt it but thats all Ess will have)
Guys like Toy , i doubt you will get a heap for him , has not set the world on fire.
What about Jeremy Taylor , where does he fit in your plans?

And as far as Flanagan going to Rookie. NO . Whe Tom Lonergan was nearly killed with his injury , we had to delist him then pick him again as a Rookie which also opened his selection to every club. But his circumstance , like Ramanscus meant a gentleman's agreement that he was allowed to ge again to his original club. Doubt that would happen when you try to do it to a fit player.

Taylor's in the long term plans I'm pretty sure. They've played him quite often when he hasn't been injured. Despite him being out of form.

Toy I would accept a late second rounder for. Caddy a late mid-late first rounder. Extremely hard to see him getting to Essendon unless another club or two is involved. They can't give us what he deserves in a direct one-on-one trade.

Re-rookie Flanagan does pose a risk, that's for sure. I would like to keep him around after he's finally showing some good things in the 2s.

The problem with the free agency rule is if Flanagan is delisted he can sign with anyone directly, so he may not even be in the draft pool to re-rookie.

I tend to agree with your valuations on Caddy and Toy Sunny.

Flanagan wouldn't be eligible as a free agent, you need to serve a certain amount of time. We can certainly rookie him, just a risk of another club picking him up first.

I think that when Free Agency comes in, anyone delisted can go straight to another club, avoiding the drafts entirely. Hence the risk. Doesn't matter if you're a Free Agent or not for the delistees.

Happy to be corrected of course.

Any player who has served less than 7 seasons and is delisted by his current club will now automatically be a free agent.

Ok, that shakes things up a bit then. Will be interesting to watch, in that case Piers may be worth hanging on to.

We need to get some hard/hungry inside players on to the list this draft/trade period. Great article involving hart in paper today. Couldn't agree more with it. Basically saying our core group has the talent, just need to make minor adjustments.

I'd also like to see a new mids coach, o'bree lacks experience. Don't mind the other assistants in their current roles.
