Lack of height is a bit of a concern. Medium forward? Ideally I think we want Danny Stanley to play this position for us next year. With Murphy and Broughton on board, his days in defence are over.

I'm all for getting QLD players back home, but not just because they're QLD born. Still have to meet a need. As it is, Sub 190cm forwards we're pretty fine on, I think?

I admit to being poorly educated on the whole draft/trade/list thing, but can anyone tell me if we
a)are
b)should be
compensated for not being able to place players on the veteran list given we haven't existed for 10 years
Seems unfair, but that's from a novice perspective
I believe Port gets to veteran list players discounted to the normal 10 years , but not sure how that works

No, wait the 10 years. Also weve been compensated enough I would have thought...

Knee injury will set him back midway through next season. Gold Coaster, from my High School actually. I reckon he'll play local club footy back up here, dunno if he'll go around again.

Just realised we cant delist Toy as we offered him a new 1yr extension. Instead he will delist himself from the club when he nominates for the ND draft as a non-contracted listed player by November 13th, and he then will be removed from our list for list lodgement 2 on the 15th November... well I think that's how it works anyway.

I don't know how correct that is. Reason being I know of at least one player last season who in 2011 was offered a one year extension, refused it (albeit early in the season) and then at end of year was delisted.

Surely a contract means nothing until all parties have signed?

That's different, he refused it, it's not still on the table...Marc Lock? He was a hopeless player, a joke he captained our vfl team as a teenager.

I think we're talking about the specifics of being delisted vs walking away.
There have been other guys offered a contract at one point, then had that offer withdrawn.
Tom Hislop was one, at Essendon. Basically sacked after he played up one night in the off-season.

If there is no contract offered when you're actually coming out of contract... you're delisted.
If the club still want you to sign the contract, you've walked out - although I assume they can choose to give their blessing, and take their offer off the table, so he can qualify to sign as a delisted FA and have more freedom.

It will be interesting to see whether GC do that or not.

Michael Osborne just delisted by the Hawks. 30 years old, great quality inside midfielder. Could be okay for a 2 year contract until we develop some of our other kids into the role?

Too old?
30 with a bung knee. Not really an inside midfielder, more a high marking medium forward, and I'm not sure how his leap will recover from that injury.

Such a fall from grace, from a highly rated prospect a couple of years ago to being delisted. Would like for him to get picked up but his heart condition is probably going to hamper his chances.

With Toy now de-listed can someone please tell me how many picks we have in the National Draft? I thought with picking up Murphy and Broughton, upgrading Horsley and needing a spot for Jaeger that leaves us with just one, but someone posted on the D&T Board we're going to have two - I is confused  Does this also mean we're going to pass on Andrew Boston? Shame we couldn't trade him for a pick.

We've activated Clay Cameron as a QLD Zone Selection and upgraded Horsley. When we use pick #13 in the ND, that will make our three compulsory picks. We won't use any more than that.

So you're right (I'm pretty sure) that we will only be using pick #13 on the ND.

Taylor Hine is also still on the list. Has not been removed from the list yet.

Thanks Sunny.

Happy we've still got Hine - hope he decides to stay with us next season and beyond. I like how he has a dip - just needs to work on his disposal.
