NRL 2012 Melbourne Storm Thread

If i remember rightly, it was going to be home games at Leichhardt and away games in Melbourne. Like that was ever relly going to work:rolleyes::D
Would have been a great concept for Balmain fans. Not so great for other clubs though having to play a side that only plays at two grounds.

Interestingly, and yes I'll get slammed for being OTT but there is a thread on LU from one of the great posters proposing something similar for Adelaide/Cronulla though in reverse, designated home games in Adelaide, Sydney away games down in the swamp.

Copping the same kind of responses "c'mon, TWO home grounds?"

Won't work and if that really was Balmain's idea would never have worked here either.

Thankfully we got given a fully fledged club, with no ties to other clubs.

Ok, I will plead ignorance or dumb here, purely to find out your obtuse way of saying things, but what the hell are/were the Magpies?

That's funny. I don't post there any more.

Wastern Suburbs.

If you are referring to my last line?

I meant we, in Melbourne, got a unique club with no ties to failed northern clubs. Not the JV
Oh.
Well aren't I the dumb **** then:o

I'm not sure whether any of you were aware that Slater had the flu vs the Sharks. I watched the Offsiders Sunday morning and one of the commentators said he was withdrawn from the team along with Kevin Proctor and changed his tip to the Sharks.

I think Billy was very courageous in his attempt to play under such duress. You just had to see him in the Sheds during the sinbin and he looked really sick, pale and sweaty.

Have to agree with one of the posters, the Ch9 commentators were riding the Sharks home and their bias is nothing short of amazing.

Its going to be a very testing time over the next few weeks for the Storm with Hoffy out for at least 4 weeks, Proctor a similar time with a hamstring problem and of course Sika's out until about R14.

I'm just hoping there be no injuries to our guys playing in Origin to add to that list.

Yeah devestatingly courageous lol

Not the first player to do it (One club went through it two weeks in a row) nor the first Storm player for that matter this season - One of the other big three wasn't 'officialy' playing against Canterbury until the warm up.

But Slater is just superman, who does things others don't do of course lol

Sin Bin decision was wrong.

How can the Sin Bin decision be wrong?

You can not run straight into a opposition player to prevent him from getting the ball in a try situation.

Whether the player was going to score or not. The fact he wasn't going to get to the ball meant it wasn't a penalty try.

If a opposition player did that to us we would be applauding the sending off and claiming it should have been a penalty try.

Well firstly he didn't deviate as much as you are suggesting and if the player wasn't going to score why consider it a professional foul?

Penalty absolutely. Not sure about the 10.

In fairness, we won the week before off the back of a sin binning/penalty rather than penalty try combo & you could argue Farah was likely to score on that case. So I will concede that it is consistent reffing.

I reckon the skipper will be rested. Is battling flu and will play tomorrow but he's not getting any younger and the weekend off will do him good.
Reckon Bily might get rested as well, but based only on a hunch.
I doubt the big 3 will all play.

Stupid? I daresay the Vic Government wouldn't be too unhappy about it nor the NRL ... With people hopefully making a week of it.

Fair cop on Smith Tugga, he'll need an excuse if his better outplays him tomorrow night ;) so you could accept him not playing under the circumstances.

Reckon Slater will back up personally.

The scheduling for this fixture is actually quite smart and considering the club probably pleaded for it, it's only logical. I'd say quite a few Queenslanders have made the trip down and will extend their stay to take in Friday's fixture as well.
Anyway, I have made my feelings known on the farce of the whole rep season. I'm not going to be a broken record, but this fixture is actually doing the game down here a favour, not a hinderance.

Yeah I see Broncos rate it as well. If it was a Sunday or Monday night both teams would field full strength sides. I understand the reason just think it's stupid.
