Rams take a punt on Jenkins, with three 2nd rounders it is relatively low risk.

Not sure what to make with what the Browns are doing, yes they picked a tackle in an area of need but Shwartz is hardly the road grading run blocker they need for their franchise running back.

Indeed a laughing fit... good posting drd23. :thumbsu:

Hmmm... weird to say the least.. the Browns had Riley Reiff there for the taking @22 and now go chasing lesser tackles in the second? How about Cordy Glenn or Silatolu Amini??

Surely Weeden could of lasted early 2nd?

Re: Trent Richardson Highlight tape wow man

I trust Heckert's opinion. Who cares if the media had Glenn rated higher than Schwartz. Obviously we liked Schwartz more. Again, it's a case of us getting our guy and not worrying about anything else.

I love watching people freak out because a team doesn't take the highest rated player on the board. It's like anyone who deviates from the list on NFL.com obviously made a mistake.

Didn't exactly pan out that way with the Brown's second first round pick though.

Schwartz was rated as a second round prospect by some so it wasn't a reach. Plus the Browns worked out Martin (Don't know about Glenn) and they still thought that Schwartz was a better fit for the RT position. I know nothing about evaluating tackles (like the vast majority of people) other then online scouting reports so it's hard to fault them on this.

If your #1 preference is gone, then you pick your #2. Hardly a big deal.

All power to the Browns on taking the tackle they rated highest.

They are obviously far smarter than us, and me specifically, because their draft day strategy is a mystery to me.

Time will tell.. and ironically THREE TACKLES bang bang bang.. off the boards!

Schwartz better make the Pro Bowl now to justify Heckert judgement.

Sanchez gets a toy for Tebow to play with. :p

Yes if the first preference was a starting QB which it wasn't. They allowed the teams picking above them to dictate to them and in the end ended up with a new starting QB as a fall back position for a selection???

Colt McCoy would be the Browns opening day starter had their first player preference still been there at Pick 22.

Upgrade at HB - check.

Upgrade at QB - check.

Upgrade at RT - check.

Not that much of a mystery. People are focusing too much on Weeden at #22. Had we not taken him there, you can guarantee we would have traded up to get him as opposed to waiting until #37 - which would have cost us more picks. We obviously had reason to believe someone could jump us, and Heckert's information is generally pretty good.

Just seems a case of us not following the conventional wisdom of the Bleacher Report mock drafts, so our draft confuses the masses.

How do you know that? Wouldn't the more likely scenario be that the Browns took Weeden by trading into the late first or taking him in the second?

Who is Manning going to throw to? Or does Elway belive that tebow was so bad that there was nothing wrong with his receivers last year?
Decker is better than Collie ;)

Interesting logic. It's wrong, but still interesting.

We would have traded up from 37 to get Weeden anyway.

Re: Trent Richardson Highlight tape wow man

Brasher isn't your criticism of the browns contradictory to your defense of the niners?

I'm not singling out the individual picks but more the Brown's draft day strategy.

49er do not need any starters from this draft, the Browns do.
Picking at 30 the 49ers could scan their roster depth and address the one area where they have the luxury to develop a potential starter. The Browns used one first round pick on a stud immediate starter and the second to surplant an existing starter. Do they have this luxury?

Yes they need a tackle and they picked one they like, but they just drafted their bell cow running back so maybe a tackle more attuned to the running game would have been a better pick.

Because their GM said on camera immediatley after the pick that the player they were targeting was taken a selection or two earlier.
