Some PFT stories this morning...

Patriots place Matt Light on IR

and...

Reserve/Retired not IR.
He retired healthy after a great long career. While Solder might not make this so bad on the field, he'll definitely be missed in the locker room. A good leader and great role model to have for the last 11 years.
Retiring a 3 time champion, 4 time pro-bowler and one year All Pro and LT in the 50th anniversary New England team.

Packers have released safety Nick Collins.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d828955e5/article/packers-release-safety-nick-collins

Such a shame as Collins has been the 3rd best safety for a while now and to lose a player of his caliber is devastating, but due to the nature of his injury it isn't worth risking his life and his future in order to play again. He will be missed from the Pack.

This means that the Pack will be looking at getting a safety this draft without a doubt.

Burfict failed combine drug testing

Takes the cake for finding a way to shoot ones own hamstring*

Burfict has to go down in pre-draft history as the player that has fallen the most. It was only a few months ago that some mock drafts had Burfict going to the Ravens in the 1st round. Word is that now he goes undrafted - only time will tell on that one.

Burfict may now drop down to day 3, there are already huge questions on his maturity and gets frustrated easy. got way too many personal fouls at ASU. but if you look past his lack of discipline and maturity he has skills to be a good player.

before this i thought he would be a 2-3 round pick, he was a monster at ASU just cracked it a but too often and gave away bad penalty's.

Will probably end up at the lions they take all the Defensive players with Red Flags next to them

Ever since the combine, he was NEVER going to be a 2-3 round pick. Was always going to be 5, 6 or 7. Even possibly a UDFA.

Wouldn't mind the Bucs taking a chance on him with a late pick though.

i dont rate the combine, he was a beast at ASU i saw a few of there games last year, with Stanford being in the pac-12 i watch as many pac-12 games as i can.

dont forget the combine made Jamarcus Russell a #1 overall pick. but with all the flags he will be a late round pick on day 3.

and all it takes is one team to fall in love like last year the supplemental draft Terrelle Pryor was a 3rd round pick and most GMs said they wouldnt use anything more than a 6th round pick on him. and he had as many red flags on him as Burfict does

Got a question..what will the rams do if the browns throw a curve ball and draft Blackmon?

If Kalil goes 3, Blackmon 4 and Claiborne 5 I think that would be St louis' top 3 on the big board..

Not sure how the rams perceive Richardson with jackson and so many other holes in the roster

Do the rams try to trade down?

If they cant get a deal who do they go for..

Stay wide out and go Draft Michael Floyd?
maybe upgrade the D line with Fletcher Cox?
backfield improvement with Mark Barron?
Reach for an offensive tackle in Reily Reiff?

Or just pick the best player available Richardson ?

Jackson is being shopped around at the moment for what it's worth, so they may be opening that hole in the 'worst case scenario'.

Giving the team a dangerous running game helps protect Bradford in a sense, even if to a lesser degree than drafting a top OL.

Imo browns go Blackmon and martin. They could go Richardson Wright but the first one sounds better.

I think thats a really good way to look at it. I still can't decide if I would prefer Richardson or Blackmon. Toss of a coin for me. I do hope we don't use or second pick on a running back. Martin seems to have shot up the boards in the last couple of weeks, a month ago it was thought the Browns could of got him in the second round. My hope for the Browns first three would be Blackmon, Glenn, Martin.

And on Burfict, he was a rated as a latter round pick before the combine. Not because of any character concerns more so because he just wasn't regarded as a very good football player from this years tape.

IMO they go with Richardson. Steven Jackson will have to be replaced at some stage, and there's no better replacement in this year's draft, he's BPA AND fills a need..

Option #2 would be Fletcher Cox - St Louis ranked #31 against the run last year and Cox would solid contributor to solving that problem.

I think it's important to have a look at the Brown's first three picks (#4, #22, and #37) and try to project the best mix of players that will be available in their three biggest needs (OT, WR, RB). Looking at it that way I would suggest that WR, OT, RB is the order that sounds right. That would give them probably the #1 ranked WR, 2nd to 4th ranked OT and 2nd or 3rd for RB.

If they could get Justin Blackmon, Jonathan Martin, and Doug Martin with their 1st three picks I think they'd be in heaven.

BTW - PFT is reporting (a rumour) that the Bills want to trade up to #3 to grab Kalil. The move would cost them at least their 1st (#10) and 2nd (#42) round picks.

Under such a scenario it'd be interesting to see who the Vikings would target at #10 because OT (Reilly Reiff), ILB (Luke Kuechly), and SS (Mark Barron) are all areas of need and that's just about where all would be pretty good value.

Considering Rams drafted Jackson when Faulk was still on the roster, drafting Richardson would be a great move. Allow his body to develop and then play him in a few years time. Either that or move down the draft, always an option.

Also say it's more likely the Bills will trade future picks for the players they need.

After a sleepless night... I've come up with my THIRD & Final Mock.

mock3m.jpg

If they could get Justin Blackmon, Jonathan Martin, and Doug Martin with their 1st three picks I think they'd be in heaven.

I agree.. but according to my predictions, the latter two will be long gawn before the Browns get that third overall pick.

BTW - PFT is reporting (a rumour) that the Bills want to trade up to #3 to grab Kalil. The move would cost them at least their 1st (#10) and 2nd (#42) round picks.

Bills are nuts to consider such a trade.. Don't do it Buddy!! Why? >> Jonathan Martin will be a VERY SOLID PICK @ #12. I'm tellin' ya.

I just don't think the Browns will go for Blackmon.

Picking a WR that high just doesn't seem to fit with Heckert's philosophy. Especially now when you consider how many WRs will be available at #22 and #37. I can see us liking someone like Reuben Randle just as much as Blackmon, or maybe we rightly realise that speed is our problem and target a Hill or Wright. Alternatively, if Floyd is available in the 12-15 range, I think we'll be trying to trade back up for him.

I think our draft board has Richardson and Claiborne at the top, in whatever order. And if I was to bet, I would split my money on four options...

Claiborne, Martin, Randle - the 'Colt McCoy' draft
Claiborne, Floyd - the '**** the media' draft
Richardson, Floyd - the 'stop complaining about our offense' draft
Richardson, Hill/Wright, Weedon - the 'we want to score' draft

Just think we'd be confident of finding a starting RT later on in the draft, and that other than Claiborne we wont really rate any other DB that highly - one reason, I think we could take him.

Chris im a big fan of Randle. Played with some pretty ordinary QB's throwing to him and still made some big plays. I think he looks pretty quick as well which has been a knock on him.

Sanu who will probably be around at our second round pick reminds me a lot of Greg Little from last year. He is the sort of WR the browns seem to like although he might be a bit too similar to Greg Little for the browns to pick him.

Yeah, I agree on Randle.

I just think it's much more likely we'll draft him or Alshon Jeffery at 22/37, than Blackmon at #4. Marvin McNutt is the other one I think we might target in the middle rounds, maybe a T.Y. Hilton too.
