GWS have come out and said they will triple team him. I hope he spends a lot of time in the centre square and not sitting at full forward sooking for free kicks.

I had Christensen as my 5th picked forward but his interrupted pre season makes him a no go so had to downgrade a back and decided on Goodes as my 5th forward. I'm not 100% sold on him but premium forwards are scarce.

Goodes will maul GWS in the opening game.

I think a score of 140+ may be on the cards TBH.

He is a must have IMO.

Agree with this, getting off to a good start is very important and Goodes will smash it. On that note it's worth having a look at Buddy's record against some of the opposition teams he comes up against in the first few rounds...

I was very keen to get Dangerfield until I read his SC score from the weekend on the herald sun website—80 from 25 possessions doesn’t seem to bode well. Now I think I'll scrap him for a rookie. Anyone want to convince me otherwise?

swap him for sidebum or JRoo or a rookie - no danger should be the policy (he just burns me every year)

Already have Sidebum, I was keen to have both. Have turned Danger in N.roo for the moment but will probs change my mind another 10 times.

dangerfield averaged 95.4 from 7 adelaide wins in 2011. (but 73 or so in their 15 losses) nab cup is a dodgy indicater for club form (who know's who is coasting, right?), but if adelaide continue their pre-season form and win more games, perhaps dangerfield might flourish a bit more? but the 80 from 25 possessions does ring a few alarm bells. lol

Dropped goodes for n.riewoldt last night. Can see goodes declining and riewoldt with the easy draw and new coach should do alright?

to be honest i think when he was averaging over 110 a game was quite conducive as to how st kilda played at the time. under a new coach they will probably adopt a different style of play which might not necessarily mean hitting up riewoldt every time they go forward. personally, i think the days of him averaging 110+ are well and truly over.

Danger just isn't worth the $ if you ask me - another one of those midpricers that promise so much but deliver stuff all.

Tough year @ for forward selection.

My config for this year will be

Backs: 4 - 0 - 5 (premium-breakout-rookie)
Mids: 3 - 0 - 5
Rucks: 1 - 0 - 3
Forward: 5-1-3

Franklin, Goodes, Fyfe, Champan, Martin, Sidebum, Rookie, rookie, rookie.

seems to be not too many reliable fwd rookies, and they are almost always the first coaches look at to put on or take off a fluro jacket...same goes for sub $500k players if they aren't dominating,

So, i have stacked my fwd line, Chappy, fyfe, goodes, sidebum, martin are all capable mids (a cpl my even crack the top 10 mids this yr IMO), so it seems logical to stack the fwds and open the mids to the $$$ rookies

Must have: Franklin
Risks: Goodes and Chappy (age) - both appear to be super fit in the preseason.
Breakout: sidebum/ martin

Who are some rookie forwards who look like getting consisent game time?

As it stands i got D smith A hall S kerridge and A treloar

Who are others?

Gary Rohan

Who is an ideal replacement around the same price tag should he not play round 1?

ATM my fwd line looks like

Franklin/Rioli/Cloke/Sidebottom/Goodes/Hawkins/Crozier with Pfieffer and Ugle on the bench.

Any tips about swaps or upgrades?

Wouldn't be putting Crozier and Ugle in your forward line to be honest.

Theres better options around then those two.

I've had Goodes locked from the strat. But am having doubts. He seems to take it easy when the swans are winning easily, and has a well documented history of scoring better in the second half of the season. He also lifts for the bigger games against better teams. With the swans easy first half who's to say he won't continue this trend. Coach could rest him up forward alot to give guys like Jetta and Parker more mid time or he could even get alot of bench time. I'm worried. A big score against GWS is by no means a certainty.

I automatically put Dangerfield in due to the fact he will be in the middle this year.... but why did he only get 80 for 25 touches?? clangers?? not enough tackles or??? also i have Ballantyne at 390 k... apparantly he will thrive under new coach and move into more of a mid role also.. do you guys think he is worth it..

and one other.... parker from sydney for 290 k.. think he is in for a breakout year playing permanent mid???

Anyone else thinking of starting both porplyzia and Dangerfield in the forward line or is that too risky??

I just don't like Dangerfield and I don't like 2 risky players from the same team but that is just me.

I keep swapping The Porp for The Masterbater, I guess I will have to make a decision soon....

There are few myths about Goodes.

One is that he is a slower starter. I think he may have had a slow start to 2010 and his first game in 2011 he scored only 63 but he followed that up with 118, 133 and 100 in his next three games. Also the way he has looked in the NAB this year makes me think he is full of confidence and in for a big year.

I agree he does lift for bigger games but I'm not sure about taking it easier against the lesser opposition. Last year his highest score 167 was against the Dogs and he also got scores of 144 against Bris, 124 against Port and 100 against Gold Coast.

If that was the final i do remember him turning over the ball a few times when the scores were close earlier in the game.

Re: Gary Rohan

Harper:- Nth Melbourne,He should get games and if he produces the goods should play loads of games, will rotate through the middle at time throughout the season.

who to pick between dangerfield or sidebottom

im leaning towards dangerfield at this stage only for the fact that crows play gold coast rd 1 then bulldogs at aami rd 2

My FWD line so far..

FRANKLIN, SIDEBOTTOM, DANGERFIELD, HALE, PORPLYZIA, ZORCO, SMEDTS, KENNEDY...

I have room for 1 more premium FWD...I cant decide between :
CLOKE
GOODES
PAVLICH
DUSTIN MARTIN
ZAHARAKIS

Any suggestion would be much appreciated :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
