CONCLUSION:

We occupy the top 7 positions for the oldest players in the Midfield and Ruck but our Defense and Attack ranking of 17th drags down our overall AFL ranking.

and your point is?

Don't be such a knob, the man obviously went through a hell of a lot of trouble to put this information together the least you could do is thank him. :thumbsu:

Interesting information, just goes to show how young we still actually are, and yet we are right up there for performances this year considering our draw so far I think we have performed extremely well.

Appreciate the time and effort put into all this, wouldn't have been easy and definitely time consuming. :thumbsu:

We are still very young, some people forget that.

Even younger when you consider this:

Our two second oldest defenders, Moore (27) and Mcguane (25), probably won't be on our list in 2013 and might not play another AFL game between them.

Our oldest midfielder, Tuck (30), also might not be best 22 in 2013.

Our two oldest forwards Miller (28) and King (27) are also expected to be phased out over the next 12-24 months.

So though they drag our average up, probably atleast 3 of those guys won't be on our list next year, and the other 2 will probably play their last years in 2013.

Our list is at a good age to peak in maybe 2014-2017.

Totally agree Juss !! Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Dimma has been at RFC the average age has gone down while our ladder finishes have gone in the other direction. To me definately been doing something right:thumbsu:

We are young, but not in midfield and rucks. I thought our midfield is generally young, but does every team have lots of young guys drafted to be mids?? IS out top few in the midfield younger than average?
On rucks, not good. Not young and not talented - athough the mullet is doing well.
Overall, looks good for the future as our team will get better just by growing up over the next few years.

I think the most positive thing to come out of this analysis is that none of our oldest players are going to be missed much when they are gone. We already know we need to look for upgrades on these players now.

Very good point Infamy. Guys like Petrie and Harvey will be missed at North while our core of Deledio, Cotchin, Jack and Martin are all relatively young.

Take Newman, Tuck, Jackson, King and Miller out of our side and our output doesn't go down all that much. There are also those older players like Moore and Mcguane that we're coping fine without as well.
Newman is the worry for mine as he has been a very solid contributor for us, Ellis would appear to be his replacement in a couple years time and Bachelor coming along nicely also helps in that area.

Puts things into perceptive......

Linking this into the thread I started on leadership ... it demonstrates how lite on solid leaders we are..... and it shows that we have some great up and coming leaders.

Our drafting needs to be spot on in the next 2 drafts.... players with strong character would be on top of my list..... and it certainly seems we have been going down that path in the last 2 drafts with Conca and Ellis bloth looking like good kids.

Hopefully taking speculative picks like Connors, Taylor, Collard...etc are gone.
