So a composite side from the other colts squads v West Perth Colts?

I wan't to go see Hayden Kennedy play, so I might pop in if I have time.

Games on Saturday is the 5 top colts players from each WAFL club and the State Academy 1st intake players. They make up 2 teams and play each other. They do some testing and interviews with AFL scouts in the morning then play a game in the afternoon. Should be a good opportunity to see where the boys are at and who are the stand out players. Be watching ACRES, SHEED, ROBERTSON and SOKOL. They been training really well at their clubs and at the Academy and appear to be the boys to watch but its early and there always somebody who pops up during the seasons.

Does anyone have a full list of who played today? Would like to see who is thought to be the "best 5" from each club as Kawalsky said

Sheed seems to have developed a groin problem while training with Westcoast. /tin foil hat.
SHEED and to pull out of testing as his groin was a bit shore and GARSTONE had shin splint soreness and didn't do any testing.

ROBERTSON (mid) was very good, especially around stoppage. The ball seems to drop for him and he made it look easy.

ACRES (Half Back and Mid) this guy’s seem to get better every time he walk onto a field. Worked hard in the back line to make good field position and did a run a carry from half back to within the 50 arch and kicked a goal.

CONLIGO (Back) loves to attack with the ball when he got it. Played on and tried to move the ball fast but got caught with no one to kick it to and had to kick to contest a few times but made a good presence on the field.

CAMERON (Ruck) Rucked the best for the Black Team. Got the ball to ROBERTSON at stoppages.

BYRNE (Back) played strong in the backline. Good overhead with his marks and got some good positioning and with ACRES were the strengths in the backline.

Haven’t got the Gold team list yet.

Who was 31 from Black? Was solid build, red hair and a seriously good boot.

Robertson was clear BOG, fast, great reader of the play and his diposal was generally excellent. Him and Sheed are the standouts from WA.

Garstone is huge. Must be closing in on 200cm?

Grace was his usual self, reads the flight well, and so strong over head. Potentially another Darling.

Chatley was good without being great.

J.Conglio was good in close, likes to go on little runs but his kicking depth is as bad as his hair cut.

Acres was very calm under pressure, just makes the right decisions.

J.Marsh was solid without being all that impressive, not sure he's a forward though. His brother was watching, Jonathan is taller than him and not as physically well developed at the same age.

J.Jensen was pretty impressive, not seen or at least notices him before.
Moved well and had seriously good hands in close for a big guy.

P.Cripps was pretty good, not the best tall on the ground by a long way but there is a lot to work with.

C.Smith, was superbly effective even if he flashed in and out a bit. The play he made to set up Marsh for a goal was Rioli like.

R.Lim looks the goods two years out, nice boot, good pace and size.

Dylan Cox, Ryan Miller Lewis, Herman Humpries, Hille, all look pretty decent. Even better that they played on each other at stages.

Cameron was better than Jones, not as big but won the ruck. He's also more versatile and can play forward.

I'm all in on Robertson this year. His final game for WA in the U18 Championships last year was nothing short of excellent. After seeing him live, the video footage didn't do him justice. He is a very good size, and a pure clearance winner - he just makes it look easy, much like David Mundy. Really looking forward to watching him develop this year.

Totally agree. What the hell was he thinking with that hair cut, almost as bad as ROBERTSON'S or GRESCOS. Maybe we should start a post on the worst hair cuts for 2013

agree

agree with this. don't often get guys that have the pace and engine package along with his size. the modern day mid

Robertson wasn't BOG, far from it, that or you are easily pleased.

Grace looked fat, took one strong overhead grab and that's about it.

Chatley was good without being great.

Chatley didnt play

Probably the first thing you've got right.

Another who has been in a good paddock.

J.Jensen was pretty impressive, not seen or at least notices him before.

It's Jansen.

The concerning/exciting element of Saturdays match, for me, was the fact that the 96 boys looked a level above anything on offer this year.

- Ah Siu was fantastic, a tall running lefty in the mould of Buddy Franklin, has to tighten up his kicking but he flashed some candy and ran past alot of the older boys like they weren't there, a serious talent a long way out.

- Clem Smith was BOG, reads the play exceptionally well, hard as nails over the ball and the Wirrapunda class finish with ball in hand.

- Pickett and Miller Lewis were also exceptional with their run and carry, both boys enjoyed taking the game on and setting up play with creative disposal by foot after some dashing runs.

Acres was pretty good for mine, good size, has that laconic vibe to his play, has time, his kicking is ok, needs to work on it.

Robertson looks a good prospect, he certainly is a competitor in the stoppages, and accelerates away from congestion well. All things club look for nowadays so he'll be in the mix.

The two rucks are average, especially Jones.

What year are Ah SIU, SMITH, PICKETT and LEWIS born in? I couldn't see anything on the WAFL stats for them for 2012 season.

It was hard to pick a BOG for the short game that was played. The boys got about 25min each and it was fast paced in some places and then scrappy in others. Players mentioned above all had good points but I don't think anyone stood out for all the right reasons. The thing I saw from some of the players was that they were reluctant to kick the ball to an open player that required a decent kick. Instead they kicked the ball to a contest or tried to have a run with it then stuffed it up.

What I was impressed with were the players that made good decisions when they got the ball under pressure (disposed of the ball to the most dangerous positioned player and attacked the corridor) and also ran hard to position themselves and also pushed backed in defence. Players liked BYRNE and ACRES showed these skills. There were a number of players on the yellow team that stood out but I didn’t get the list of names so it’s hard to comment on them, but from the looks of it SMITH, PICKETT and LEWIS where the better players for that team.

I agree ROBERTSON wasn’t the BOG. He made some good clearances and his kicking on both feet was excellent but he needs to make more of an impact off the ball and remember that he needs to be accountable for his opponent.

Probably drawing a little too much into it Pav.

The format didn't lend itself towards easy watching. Probably wasn't all that easy for every player to work into the game, especially in the heat.

Clem I though was more flashy than consistent. Burnt the ball a few times as well.

Chatley was listed as 41 for Black.

Very harsh on Grace. Worked his taller opponents under the ball a lot. Chased and tackled well.
