2013 MotoGP

Can't really blame Cal for jumping to Ducati. Yamaha won't give up Lorenzo or Rossi so it made Cals decision a tad easier. He wanted a factory ride and probably deserves one and the only factory seat available is the Ducati. There is a huge chance it could go pear shaped but there is the possibility of him being able to fight for a championship as well if Ducati can get their sh** together!. Also much more $. Hope it works out for him.

Scott Redding has also confirmed a step up to MotoGP but the team hasn't been announced. Also rumours that Nicky Hayden could go to Pata Honda World Super bike team with direct support from Honda America with Johnny Rea potentially going to race a production Honda in MotoGP. All rumours though but interesting!

Hayden has been linked to Superbikes for a few weeks now.

His career is over in MotoGP anyway

Whats happened to the great American riders?
Are there any coming through?
Just in my time:
Lawson Rainey Schwantz Roberts Jnr and Hayden all champs.
Spies and Edwards both very very good.

They certainly have produced some champion riders but as for now i'm not sure where the future talent is going to come from. There a no young Americans in either Moto 3 or 2 and as far as i know none in the Spanish CEV championships. I'm not familiar at all with the AMA Superbike championship over there so don't know if there is future World championship material in there. Looking now they do have 2 riders in the Red Bull rookies cup but are obviously quite young. I rate Spies though so hopefully he can avoid injury and get some decent results.

Worked alright for Casey

Hasn't worked so well for Dovi, Rossi, Hayden, Melandri and Capirossi (after 2006). The bike's always been quick but just too difficult to ride and as good as Cal is (and he has improved significantly this year) I just don't see him as anywhere near the level of Stoner. Unfortunately it was his only real option with Espargaro taking his spot at Tech3, the other rumoured option taking Bradl's spot on the factory supported LCR Honda. He'll make good coin though. :thumbsu:

And it's a shame his MotoGP career is over in my opinion given how competitive he was against Rossi on the Ducati. That to me shows he's still of MotoGP quality but such a drastic lack of competitive machinery means he's out to make way for the new breed.

America is just going through a generational drought a bit similar to us. There is some talent around, the likes of cameron Beaubier and JD Beach were in the Red Bull Rookies a few years back and did ok and guys like Blake Young and Josh Herrin are alright but there are no outstanding talents coming through. Dakota Mamola (son of Randy) is racing in Europe and doing ok too. I think supercross could be a big drain on motorcycling talent there where they play to big crowds and big dollars to be made.
Oh, they have Elena Myers too. :thumbsu:

What has happened to Ben Spies ?
He just seems to have disappeared.I know he got injured and he missed a couple of races and then popped up in the commentary of one of the races maybe 4 weeks ago and I thought he said he was about to return but he hasn't.
Has he been boned ?

Ben Spies is finally back after recovering from busting his right shoulder in Rd 2 at Texas.
Ben Spies is now gone again after busting his left shoulder overnight in a practice crash at Indianapolis

Hint : Stay away from your home tracks Ben.You're cursed.

Gotta feel for Ben and now Jack Miller! was having a great season and apparently a few teams after his signature next year. Great race for Sissis also him and Jack were leading the first 2 laps, was awesome to see.

Just looking at the TV guide for the Brno GP it appears the Moto 2 race is first then the MotoGP race then the F1 race theeeen Moto 3. That sucks put the F1 on ten and play Moto 3 live or at least put Moto 3 on 11 or somthing! hate delayed telecasts! So hard to keep away from a result. Rant over.

The Moto 3 race is live at 10.30pm in Vic as we have the F1 coverage on Ten and Moto GP coverage on One

Really? It says F1 is on after the MotoGP race on One and the Moto3 race not till 10 WST delayed after the F1 race. Probably because ch 10 are still airing their prime time crap in WA still and don't want to disrupt that!

Yes, we get crap quality F1 every race. MotoGP or no MotoGP.

Is F1 is always on Ch 10 in Melb? Unless it's the AUS grand prix i think it's on One all the time here. I'm not having a go about F1, just that they could have put one on one Chanel and the other on the other Chanel like they are doing across Melbourne instead of delaying it.

Yes. Every race.

I don't know who was responsible (FIM, Dorna, CGP organising committee), but it's pretty good that they recognised the there'll be many people wanting to watch both F1 and MotoGP races and have tailored the schedule accordingly.

Not a bad combo, the best F1 track and one of, if not the best bike track at the same time.

I'm hating Marquez more and more. Not only is he leaving future hall of famers in Lorenzo, Rossi and (maybe) Pedrosa but he's doing it in a mature manner! Gahh! But seriously, this kid is astounding. I expected fast with wins but mixed with crashing and brain explosion passes and instead he's like one of those kids whose body ages 5 times faster than their actual age except it's not his body but his racecraft that is already scary fast. I think Lorenzo may well be putting the feelers out to Honda already, he's maxing that Yamaha out and it's just not quite there. And poor old Dani is going to replace Mamola as the greatest never man (at the top level) at this rate.

It was a ripper weekend, all races were excellent. I didn't know who to cheer for in Moto2. I've always been a Luthi fan, Nakagami was gunning for his first win and Kallio for his first in 5 years! An excellent podium.
Moto3 was, well, typical! Luis Salom, like Sandro Cortese before him, is showing that extra couple of years racecraft maturity over his title rivals who beat themselves up late in the race letting him get away. Jack Miller rode a brave race with a busted collarbone to finish a commendable seventh whilst Arthur Sissis looked like he had some sort of bike problem when he crossed the line in a disappointing fourteenth.

MotoGP know their place and are pretty careful not to clash with F1.

My boy Marquez is kicking just as much ass as I expected (more actually). I don't think it could get any better than Stoner v Lorenzo v Marquez in a 3 bike Honda team like a few years ago. Shame it won't happen though!

All 3 races were awesome. I'm in the same boat as to who to go for in Moto2 but found myself cheering for Nakagami in the end! Have to feel for Jorge he road the wheels of that Yamaha but just can't compete with the Hondas. Pedrosa left his charge too late and well what can you say about Marquez really, the kid is a superstar. Can't believe how quickly he has adapted to MotoGP.
They interviewed Arthur Sissis after the race and he said he had a crash in qualifying which left him with a sore neck and was on pain killers for the race but said it was painful to ride. Also hearing rumours that Jack Miller has some decent offers on the table for next year in Moto3. Apparently wants to stay in Moto3 one more year to try win a championship so you would think he would be on a KTM next year!
